He's eating more dry hc kibble. I'll test again and then probably head to vet. I just hate our emergency vet.
Just an FYI, it takes a lot longer for dry food to get into the system (and exit the system), but it is good that he's eating something.

I understand about the ER vet....I hate going there, too. Is your regular vet open and equipped to handle low BGs like this?

No. Just called regular vet closed.

I'm concerned that the cat is not moving. There is something that sometimes happens during a low event. It is called brain blindness and is temporary. To test, stand behind the cat and drop a cotton ball about a foot in front of him. He should notice it. The cotton ball is light enough that no other senses come into play.
If you do not have a cotton ball, pick the cat up and put it somewhere on the floor that it will likely move from. Watch closely.

I agree with Amy and Nan about the emergency vet. I also agree with Dickson (Noah) in that someone would need to be with you or you would need to pull over at least once on the trip. Is there a vet that is open closer?
He's moving some now .

Sherry --

I would try anything HC that Blackie likes. Vanilla ice cream may be good -- any ice cream/frozen yogurt other than chocolate. I'd like to get something solid in his stomach and not just Karo. The kibble was fine but it does take a little longer to be metabolized.

Just so we're all on the same page, how often have you given the Karo and how often? You want to be testing about every 20 min. and giving HC and repeating until numbers are in a safer place.

The concerns are that the low numbers are late in the cycle and that Blackie is not coming up easily.
How much in total do you think you have given Blackie in the last hour?

Did a bit of looking on Mr. Google.
If necessary, there are two options available in the Johnson City area.
Robinson Animal Hosp is open until 9pm 423-218-1305
Further out of town to the north is Airport Pet Emergency Clinic which opens at 5:30pm 423-279-0574

I have to leave now but will do my best to hurry back.

Thank you I didn't know about Robinson.

Do you have a syringe? Make up some sugary water and syringe into his mouth, will be quicker than karo on gums.
Ok. Will do that . So if I don't take vet I'll just need to keep up with hc etc.. I'm guessing I skip evening shot. Other clinic is closed and ER vet didn't answer.

Come on Sherry, you've got this and Blackie needs his strong mumma right now. I can be around for a while, yes keep doing what you are doing. His numbers are better.
I cant really tell from your spreadsheet, how many hours post shot are we now?

You dont have much data at +10 and +11 but from you do have he should not be heading any lower. I'm going to hazard a guess that your neighbour gave too big a shot.

How long until next test?

Is it possible through a miscommunication that the neighbour and the neighbour's partner both gave insulin this morning?
Just trying to figure this out.
No. We talked to him and he only gave 3. I think being off his food schedule, I left dry to make things easier on the neighbor. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs. At the vet now they will do glucose drip and most likely monitor overnight. He was 53 when we got here.
