Just an FYI, it takes a lot longer for dry food to get into the system (and exit the system), but it is good that he's eating something. He's eating more dry hc kibble. I'll test again and then probably head to vet. I just hate our emergency vet.
Ok he's at 40. Walking around some. He's eating more dry hc kibble. I'll test again and then probably head to vet. I just hate our emergency vet.
No. Just called regular vet closed.Just an FYI, it takes a lot longer for dry food to get into the system (and exit the system), but it is good that he's eating something.
I understand about the ER vet....I hate going there, too. Is your regular vet open and equipped to handle low BGs like this?
He's moving some now .I'm concerned that the cat is not moving. There is something that sometimes happens during a low event. It is called brain blindness and is temporary. To test, stand behind the cat and drop a cotton ball about a foot in front of him. He should notice it. The cotton ball is light enough that no other senses come into play.
If you do not have a cotton ball, pick the cat up and put it somewhere on the floor that it will likely move from. Watch closely.
I agree with Amy and Nan about the emergency vet. I also agree with Dickson (Noah) in that someone would need to be with you or you would need to pull over at least once on the trip. Is there a vet that is open closer?
Just making sure. He's only gone from 28 to 40 in around an hour? All that karo should have done more than no?
If you don't see some more improvement soon I agree it's time to go. If you crate him keep his head where you can see it or else swaddle him, bring someone with you.
Thank you I didn't know about Robinson. The concerns are that the low numbers are late in the cycle and that Blackie is not coming up easily.
How much in total do you think you have given Blackie in the last hour?
Did a bit of looking on Mr. Google.
If necessary, there are two options available in the Johnson City area.
Robinson Animal Hosp is open until 9pm 423-218-1305
Further out of town to the north is Airport Pet Emergency Clinic which opens at 5:30pm 423-279-0574

I have to leave now but will do my best to hurry back.
They will hook him up to a glucose drip.I giving Karo 3 x and I'm testing every 15-20 minutes. What will the vet do to help ?
Ok. Will do that . So if I don't take vet I'll just need to keep up with hc etc.. I'm guessing I skip evening shot. Other clinic is closed and ER vet didn't answer.Do you have a syringe? Make up some sugary water and syringe into his mouth, will be quicker than karo on gums.
Ty feel like I could cryYou're doing excellent Sherry!!! Keep your head up and keep staying calm. There's alot of info and experienced peeps here. Don't let your guard down for a moments but, that last reading is looking alot more positive. Keep doing what you're doing girl!!! You got this!!!

Is it possible through a miscommunication that the neighbour and the neighbour's partner both gave insulin this morning?Hi. Neighbor confirmed only 3 units. He's had karo 3x .
No. We talked to him and he only gave 3. I think being off his food schedule, I left dry to make things easier on the neighbor. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs. At the vet now they will do glucose drip and most likely monitor overnight. He was 53 when we got here.Is it possible through a miscommunication that the neighbour and the neighbour's partner both gave insulin this morning?
Just trying to figure this out.
