TYLER'S JOURNEY # 20

Good morning! Got the tag!

Are you and Ashley doing anything special for Thanksgiivng?
Hey Linda not a thing , not even cooking a turkey or a ham. Most likely my father will come over and that's it. Same thing for Christmas. Since Ashley can't be around noise that's how it has to be. If I ever did go any where it would be my sisters. My brother doesn't believe Ashley is that sick and doesn't understand about RSD. I haven't talked to him in a year and a half. He is a piece of sh*t. Ashley always loved the holidays and being with family. She would love to bake and bring it to my moms house where we would all gather. Not the same since my mom is gone. Ashley can't even be around the oven being on anymore because the heat bothers her eyes, this damn disease took everything from her. Me I am a hum bug lol, How about you

We celebrate Thanksgiving in Oct. so long gone now. With my only family being my SIL with Down Syndrome, I don't do anything that day. She's usually off with her boyfriend's family for holidays. That's changing now because he's moved out of town with his parents so not even sure what's happening on Xmas. She used to go to BFs and I had a peaceful Xmas with my kitties and then I'd go to very dear friend's for their Xmas celebration on our Boxing Day (day after Xmas). Now that BF has moved I don't know if I am going to have to "entertain" on Xmas or not yet. Not looking forward to it as it's a lot of work for 2 people, and my MIL never bothered teaching SIL how to do much of anything to be able to help. I've tried.......had her come over for prep when family was larger..... things like snapping green beans, peel potatoes, rolling crescent rolls onto baking sheet, stuffing turkey and she wasn't impressed with any of it (too much work and mucky) and quite honestly, was a hindrance rather than a help. Now she tends to fall asleep if not entertained every second which is problematic and I may end up picking her up (yes I have to be chauffeur service too) only to end up taking her back home because I've warned her before that she has to be well rested and good company if she expects to be invited to other people's homes for special occasions. BF used to keep waking her up when they visited here on birthdays, holidays etc. She almost fell asleep with her face planted in her dinner plate at BF's house last Easter! Not looking forward to Xmas at all. I kind of like my peace and quiet!

Wow I don't know how you put up with her, it would drive me insane, I really feel for you. So your mil comes over also , how about your fil is he still living. I hope they don't come over on Christmas and you are left alone with some peace and quiet. Tell them you have the flu

No MIL, FIL, my parents and DH have all passed on so it's just me & SIL now. It was a whole different set of challenges when the parents were still with us. Oh, the tales I could tell but then most people seem to have family challenges of some sort to deal with around the holidays so all things considered, it could have been so much worse.;)

Our DD and SIL have made the 2 1/2 hour drive to KC to pick up DS...that's a huge help AND BONUS , peace and quiet for a bit ....won't be home til bedtime ...thinking of you both ❤️

Glad your guests are helping out Beth. That makes it so much easier. It's tough being hosts and chauffeurs for everyone!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving day all!

@MrWorfMen's Mom hey Linda
I was wondering why with lantus you have to use U100 syringes instead of the U40
Is it because the lantus is 100 units per ml and the vetsulin is 40 units per ml
So the lantus is stronger and it lasts longer. I will probably be taking Tyler to my vets for his check up, he hasn't been there since he was diagnosed so she wants to see him. I will tell her I want to switch insulin and she will also have to give me a script for the new syringes , or ADW will just call her like they did four the half markings on the U40 ones @MrWorfMen's Mom

You're right about the U100/vs. U40 syringes. Using the U40's with Lantus could result in a serious overdose.

The Lantus is more concentrated than Vetsulin but that doesn't mean it's stronger per se. It's gentler and lasts longer and is better at holding low numbers than pulling down high ones. Vetsulin doesn't last as long, can pull down high numbers sharply but doesn't last so doesn't promote surfing in low healing numbers. It is just formulated in a different concentration. It's like different antibiotics for instance where you might take one twice daily but another for the same "bug" might require you to take it 3 times a day. Dose is different, action is a bit different but ultimately they do the same thing.

@MrWorfMen's Mom OK I understand thanks for explaining it to me
THURSDAY 11-28-19
AMPS - 159 Shooting 0.75 skinny
I'm here watching The Godfather for the hundredth time lol they have it one every thanksgiving @MrWorfMen's Mom

Well look at that little monkey just kind of surfing along for the last hour and ending up a bit lower.

Hope things are staying a little quieter and comfortable in your neck of the woods. We are expecting yet another dumping of snow here on Sunday, the tail end of the cyclone "bomb" currently crossing the US. SIGH! If this is any indication, it's going to be a bad winter.

I was surprised too with Tyler, I hear ya, I'm listening to our forecast, so far they day 3-5 inches for all day on Tuesday, when I heard that I wanted to die, you know what that means for me and Ashley, go out and start shoveling probably every hour because of the town plowing the streets, just so that when it stops I can get the hell out of here before neighbors start with the snow blowers, Ashley's ears. Will then probably go park in a parking garage and wait until neighbors are done and I can come back and park behind my apartment in a big drive way after the guy comes and plows it. So I will have to park on the street until he clears it. I put 2 garbage pails down after I shovel myself out so no one takes the spot after I leave. You have no idea how I am dreading this. How much snow did you get already @MrWorfMen's Mom

We got about 6 inches the last snowfall a couple weeks ago and now expecting another 3 to 5 inches or more. The bad news is that they are predicting thre possibility of mixed precipitation so we may get freezing rain or ice pellets along with it. And it's on Sunday when I have to drive to curling. Oh joy oh bliss.

Oh well, can't stop Mother Nature. Here's hoping the weather folks have it ALL WRONG and at worst you just get a sprinkling!

I'm off to bed. Going to see Cats at the theatre tomorrow so I want to be well rested so I don't miss anything!

@MrWorfMen's Mom no rush
Tim who I got the lantus from told me that when on lantus you can only post one thread per day? He said you would first out the date
Here easier to copy what he said

One thing to know about the Lantus forum is that you start only one thread per day, with the date in the subject line and a link to your previous thread. A thread can wind up being a combination of updates, asking questions, seeking advice and just chitchatting. Of course you don't have to post every day but many people do.

I see that Beth does it like this.
Do you have to put a link to the previous thread? I wouldn't know how to do that I'll
You know me. Like I said Tyler will be going the second week of Dec to the vet and then will need a script for the syringes and will order them
Want to use up the Vetsulin before starting the lantus since his numbers aren't bad @MrWorfMen's Mom

Hey Diane ❤️ Coming out from under family here to say hello to you and Linda :bighug: All the cousins are meeting for dinner in Springfield ( small city ab 30 minutes to our south) so Dan and I will have a quiet evening. Saw you were commenting on posting on Lantus . There are no hard and fast rules ab how often to post so you can post one day and then not again until you want or need. Start with date then AMPS . You will prob test more at first til you and Tyler get the hang of Lantus . And anytime you have a question ab posting or how they do things on the Lantus board you can PM me if you like . I will of course follow you and Tyler there ❤️

Awe thanks Beth, much appreciated. What I am trying to day is that for example let's say the date is 12-6-2020 Monday and AMPS is 134 the you follow that with @+2 then @+3 and @+6 etc Then you do the PMPS for the same day ( this would be the title)

Now for the next day which would be 12-7-2020 you would then have to start another separate thread is this correct.
You just can continue under putting the rest of the days under 12-6-2020 right like the way I do on the Vetsulin board like I do one right after another. I see when you start vs new thread or title for a new day you put the word yesterday in blue above, so we can see what happened the day before how do you do that

Must feel good to have a quiet night tonight, when will they all be leaving tomorrow
How did Thanksgiving go, what did you cook

Far as posts, Diane ...each day you post for that day ...next day a new thread is started for that new day ...you refer back to the day before post first then proceed with any questions you have , stuff you'd like to share . That way people who are reading:helping can refer back to the day before to see what was going on . It's really no different than what ur doing now ...we had a good time with family but I am exhausted ... not use to cooking or that many people in the house ... our youngest niece is 16 so no small kids for now .... our son Matt flies out Monday , SIL on Tuesday and our daughter the following Monday ...we had the usual Thanksgiving food.... side dishes are recipes from each side of the family which is fun to recall where each came from .... Dan and I eat very light and simple so having this much food around is unusual for us ... but it's all fun .

Cats was excellent but not as good as the original Toronto production. It's quite the spectacle but the stage was smaller at this theatre and they jazzed it up a bit but lost or didn't include those cute cat moves like face/ear washing, scratching etc. so the actors weren't as cat like as before. Had a good time and that's what counts.

Like Beth said, we can support your move over to Lantus and it's not a big deal. You can do one thread here everyday now if your choose to. Putting a link in for the previous post is easy but let's practice that when you start a new thread for Tyler. :D

@Beth 73 Sounds like Thanksgiving went well but holidays are a lot of work. Hope you have lots of leftovers so everyone can just fend for themselves from here on in.;)

@MrWorfMen's Mom glad you had a good time. You know me I worry about things ahead of time. About putting in a link for previous posts yes let's leave it for later.
I have bad traits about me, if something has to be done but could really wait, no I have to do it right away, but doesn't have to be, just like now about asking about the link, , here is an example let's say I went and bought bed pillows and brought them home and they weren't comfortable for Ashley and its 8 pm, well I have to bring them back right then and there, of course it can wait until the next day, that's how anal I am.
I have to learn to relax and take things slower @MrWorfMen's Mom

Linda, glad you had a much deserved good time ! It's just nice to get out and do something different from time to time :) More food than use to and way more conversation than use to wears this Hobbit totally out . Elmo did amazingly well. We usually close him in a bedroom for the first few hours but let him be out this time and he surprised me ...he got underfoot a lot but was in blacks all day so slept a lot. Blacks now gone !

That's too funny about taking the pillows right back because I'd have the opostite problem. I'd procrastinate for not wanting to go near the store again. I am NOT a shopper at all. HATE it with a passion so having to return stuff is torture in my books.

I wonder if Elmo despite being out and underfoot found having the extra folks and commotion a bit stressful. Good that the blacks are gone but hope he doesn't deal any of his dramatics until you are able to catch up on some rest.

@MrWorfMen's Mom lol you laugh, its just crazy the way I am. Ashley will look at me and say really you are going back now. I also am not a shopper at all.
I hate it. I haven't been to an actual mall in years. I stay local. I try not to buy anything so I don't have to return it lol only kidding.
Like now I have to return 2 items at Shop Rite that's our grocery store here, but I will not go now, will wait until tomorrow. Ashley has me chained to the bed lol @MrWorfMen's Mom

@MrWorfMen's Mom hey Linda I just saw the post from Marje about the 2020 SS.
I can give it a try with the directions she gave, but afraid I will screw it up.
She did say she would do it for anyone, would you mind doing it for me when it gets closer to the new year or do we do it now so its there already @MrWorfMen's Mom

Spoke too soon ab blacks ..reappeared tonight but DH May have given FS..... at least I will get early good sleep ... and I'm like you , Linda in that I hate to shop , :woot:except for Amazon ...and like you, Diane , in that I can stress myself out trying to get things done ahead of time and quickly ...... ah well :) And yes , fell asleep on couch tonight ...all this cookin' and a visitin' takes a toll on me .....I love when they come and I love when they go ...gotten kinda selfish in my old age ...and use to them living far away .... nighty night you two :bighug:

Thanks for your concern but no worries. We cancelled curling this morning and then the curling club advised us the club was closed anyway so I am warm and comfy in my house with my furbabies and not planning any outdoor activities!
