Day 2 @ 2.5 Units Lantus

Good morning.....It's Friday :cat::):joyful:

I did a little experimentation yesterday with Yoyo's Food.....I fed him "Chicken Frick A Zee" last night which has 2% of calories from carbs. His BG did go to the lowest last night, not a BIG change but he did go to 97 @+2 & +3. Hard for me to believe that a 2.5% difference can cause his BG levels to change so much, but I am trying to see what is going on with him- I miss those green numbers:D

If anyone has any input, I would love to hear from you:)

Hope you have an enjoyable day and remember....All Kitties Must Surf Safely:cat::cat:

I would think it could make a difference. 8% carb spikes Ollie nicely, it normally all I need to boost when she gets into the 50's. Just carb sensitive they are.

Debra - two times yesterday, I gave Tina a snack of Dr. Elsey's chicken pate (phos a bit over 1 though), and she almost went low both times after getting 2% instead of 3.9%
My silly cat does not like the Frick A Zee.

Good morning!! Off to take care of doggies then right back;)

I never saw Dr Elseys chicken. Where do you buy it?

For the chicken frick a zee, I put it into the food processor to get it like a pate. He actually sniffed it and then licked away. He doesn't like it as much as the new Soulistic and Press your lunch, but at least he tried it and then I hand feed him the rest of it

Chewy's
Properly called Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein, chicken recipe pate. Dry Matter Basis - Protein 11%, Fat 9%, Carbs 2.08%
However, Phosphorus is 1.25 compared to the Weruvas (Paw Lickin chick, Frick A Zee) which are at 0.82 or real close.
If it wasn't for the higher phos, I'd feed it all the time. Tina's blood phos has gone down, so I just don't know!!!!
All my cats liked the turkey more than the chicken, but the phosphorus is still higher at 1.46 (dry matter basis).

You are the best! I also smashed and cut it up, but Tina does not like the smell. She likes the simpler PLC.

Do you know how many calories in a can of Dr Elsey's pate? Because then we can know the exact amount of phosphorous / can
3 oz or larger. I'll look it up on line also....thanx:)

Some cats are more carb sensitive than others and that little change could make a difference. I hope Yoyo gives you more green today.
The only reason I am questioning the carbs is because when Yo drops low in the lime numbers is it so hard to bring him up. He isn't carb sensitive then. I have fed 32% with no relief. So I never thought he would be carb sensitive to a difference of around 2% or more with his normal feeding times. But I am probably wrong....:(...thanks for letting me know your thoughts :)

Haven't found it yet, grrrr . . . I sure do like how Weruva publishes all pertinent info.
I did find that Hollywood Feed store (common in this area) sells Dr. Elsey's food - I might go look to see what else they have since it's in a cute little downtown area! It's awful when you have to buy a case for around $30-$40 to see if one cat likes it.
