? 11/19 Blackie PMPS 182+4 62!!!

The board can be slow at night. I'll help you as much as I can but, as I said I'm not one of those individuals that gives advice etc.
IMO Blackie's #'s aren't bad. In fact he's at the beach(blue #'s) which are good healing #'s for the pancreas. He did drop @ +2 which generally signals an active cycle. I know it's scary seeing that kind of drop for the first time. Just remember...you're in control of the cycle...not the other way around. You have the tools necessary to steer his cycle(HC food). How often can you test this evening?

Sorry I fell asleep. Just tested he's at 62. Should I feed high carb now?

So your 4.5 hours into the cycle with the potential low point at 6 hours. How's his appetite? You don't want to overfeed...he needs to keep an appetite just in case you need to continue to offer food.
When steering the cycle you don't want to give too much HC to spike him. You're trying to keep him at level numbers w/o him dropping or spiking. His number is still safe so don't panic. You can offer him a couple tsp LC food mixed with about a Tsp of HC to bring him up some for peace of mind. Re-test in 15 min to 30 min after eating to see where he is. Sometimes it takes 30 min before you see any affect from the food.

Ok. That's actually what I just did. I gave him some food and some hc treats I give to my other cats. I'll test again . Thanks ! Appreciate you talking me down and looking out for my baby.

@sherry mccormick i would get another test in before you go to sleep. The 93 is good but probably food influenced. What carb did you feed him when he was 62?.
Don’t feed him any more and test again in 1 hour.
I feed him some Purina grain free treats. But they have carbs in them. Not sure the count. I'll set my alarm for an hour. Got to work in the morning. Thank you !

@Briere Fur Mom you gave very good advice!
The only thing I might have done differently was just give LC at 62 to help him to surf and not drop lower.
We usually save the HC (I know you mixed it with LC =MC ) for when they drop under 50 or if it is early in the cycle such as +2 or 3 and the insulin is just starting to kick in.
Well done.!

Also if you are able to write in the remarks column of the SS what and when you normally feed Blackie and if you give anything differenT

For example LC food at Preshot, +3 and +5 both cycles. Gave some HC when dropped under 50 at+6 or gave extra LC at +5 when he was 60 to encourage to surf.

That gives us lots of information and is great for you to look back on.
