? Dosage advice please

We bumped Mr. Kitty up .25U and wondered if anyone could take a peak at our spreadsheet to advise us on what to do next. Should we hold for 2 more cycles then curve then reassess? He doesn’t seem to be responding yet but we are hopeful.

Also, does a cycle mean one full day (2 shots) of insulin?

And is there a brand of litter or tricks we can buy/use for ketone testing? He uses a closed box and holding a spoon underneath is not going to work.

A cycle is 12 hours -- thus 2 cycles to a day.

If you are following SLGS, you hold the dose for a week. You then do a curve and if numbers aren't where you want them, you increase. You are testing enough to follow TR which would allow. you to increase Mr. Kitty's dose after 3 days/6 cycles. The hang up is that you are using a dry food and TR is not a possibility if you are using Young Again.

You can try using fish gravel in the box in order to get a sample or you can put plastic wrap on the litter.

Thank you for clarifying the cycles and suggesting fish gravel - genius! Someone on Facebook said I should have started with .50U instead of 1U of Lantus based on my Vetsulin numbers.

I’m glad you didn’t listen as he wasn't doing much on 0.5u of Vetsulin.

Not any longer than he’s been back on insulin, if you had started back with Lantus instead of Vetsulin, we would have used the SLGS starting dose of 1u bid for a cat on dry food.
