Hello everyone,

I could use some help getting back on track. If you get a moment, please look at Yoshi’s spreadsheet. I think his recent black amps is a result of a late nadar I’m not catching.

I did a before bed last night and it was high so I assumed I didn’t have to set the alarm for a +7 or 8, but I think he bounced? Or is he still clearing a bounce?

I’m off tomo, wk Saturday and have to see my dad in hospital Sunday day.

Should I do a mini curve at some point? Maybe I should follow slgs with all that is going on? I will be able to get mid cycle tests, just not daily.

Currently he is hangry. Like bad. But I don’t want to feed before his shot in an hour. He just took a giant poo (tmi - but I think he’s been constipated. Giving miralax)

Thank you :bighug:

Hmm, if he's that hungry, I think you can go ahead and feed, just make a note in the spreadsheet that whatever you get for PMPS might have a bit of food influence. In general, we like to do that 2hr window to make sure a cat is "really" high enough to shoot, but with Yoshi right now I don't think that's a big concern. Let the poor little guy eat.

I think grabbing some extra tests tomorrow when you're home is a good idea. Even if you can't do a full curve, the more mid-cycle tests you get, the better feel you get for when he tends to nadir, and you can focus your testing on the days/nights when you can't do more than one or two mid-cycle.

He looks like he needs to go back up in dose to me, but you can wait and see what he does tomorrow.

Jennifer, I know the back and forth with dosing is stressful, but unfortunately, it's part of the FD dance.
I hope things settle down with your Dad soon, and all can get back to normal.

Looks like it's time for an increase. He needs some help to lower those numbers. Since you're home this weekend, it might be an ideal time for an increase.

I would not feed Yoshi early. It's a bad habit for your kitty to get into. You end up reinforcing the "hangry" behavior.

Your signature says you're following TR. You reduced Yoshi's dose on 10/24 after 10 days at 4.5u. You've been at the 4.25u for 16 days. I'm not sure what dosing method you're using. Given that Yoshi's nadirs were in the 300s on a dose of 4.5u, I can't sort out why you reduced his dose. Not surprisingly, his nadirs are still high.

If you're truly trying to follow TR, you should be increasing his dose by 0.5u to 4.75u. With TR, you evaluate the dose every 3 days. You've been holding doses that are not bringing your kitty into good numbers for far too long. When you hold the dose overly long and numbers are high, your cat's body starts to treat the high numbers as the new "normal." This is called glucose toxicity -- it sounds worse than it is. It does make it harder to get the numbers to come down and can contribute to bouncing.

He earned a reduction the night before. He was getting into yellows and blues on this dose. I have been holding because I haven’t been able to catch him at Nadar because my father has been in the hospital and quite frankly I’m severely stressed out with work and everything that’s going on, including Yoshi.

Thanks for the explanation. If it's not too much trouble, if there's a reason for not sticking to your preferred dosing method, could you put a note in the comments on your spreadsheet. I always open a spreadsheet and it's helpful to not bug someone if there's an explanation for what you're doing. There are enough of us hanging around that will ask and if the info is on your spreadsheet, you won't (hopefully) have to repeat yourself.
