That's great, you've both done great today.

When was the last food? and what carb was it?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to determine when you should next test. Hoping that we can give you both a break.

How are you doing?

Im ok lol just trying to juggle cleaning my house and caring for salem my son had a doctors appointment i took salem with me lol so i could watch him while i waited in the car . Now i must cook dinner its keeping me very busy but im ok thank you for asking how is your babies doing ? He ate some more food when we got home before testing i gave him his low carb food 3 carbs of 9 lives meaty pate . Since hes sugar is doing ok and going up i just gave him his low carb food . Salem eats good now but hes not acting like hes starving no more like he use to when he was not on the insulin . So i know the insulin is helping his appetite . Im still waiting on him to urinate so i can check hes ketones but hes not urinating ? I checked the litter box looks like someone pee but not salem the other cats . Hes just not thirsty for some reason ? How can i get him to drink water ?

good choice with the LC food. It's great that he is eating, that it really important while he is in the recovery from the DKA.
I think you would be OK to leave him be, feed him his LC as you would normally do (nothing after +10 though) and then grab a +11. Unless of course Salem tells you something is up by acting strange.
If you want to test more then that's fine too. But think you could grab a break now, let you get caught up with the house work LOL

how is your babies doing ?
They're great, George (BFG) snuggling beside me, and the others are lounging in front of the fire, they're all happy now they've had their dinner.

Thats great thanks for everyones help and explaining everything . I found out salem is drinking water hes going to the bath tub and drinking water while it drips lol im glad hes esting too little portions off and on but hes not starving like he use to be before the insulin .

Tina, I will not be around later when you reach pmps.
So when you get the +11, change the title to show the +11, you can delete most of the rest.
Maybe change it to
Salem 11/4 amps 208 +3 103 +11 (whatever you get) help for pmps please.(use the ? from the drop down list if you need help)
Also write a new post so it gets bumped up to the top of the list so folk will see it. I just want to be sure you will get eyes on you when you post later.

drinking water while it drips lol
also good for his recovery. My guys have a fountain, it's really good it encourages them to drink.

Salems ears hurt poor thing when i went to get he is ears to test he usually lays hes ears down now he is putting his paw on his ears holding them i went to get the other ear he put his other paw up there poor thing i put neosperone on it but they still hurting i tried his paws before but he doesnt like that plus they are too tough to prick ? I dnt like hurting salem .

:(

It does get easier. Eventually, the ears "learn to bleed" by growing new capillaries, you can use a smaller lancet to do the pokes, and they can heal faster. Right now though, the poor little guy has had a lot of pokes in a short amount of time.

Applying gentle pressure (using a cotton round or some tissue) to the poke site helps, as does the antibiotic ointment, but some of this is just time and getting used to it.

With that +9, at least you can give him a break until PMPS!

Salems sugar was low this amps so we had to fed him HG food to not let it go to low it was not bad but we decided to treat it early it kept slowly going up so a little at time gravy to not over Fed then i tried just a few dry food about 5 bits of the the dry .
11/04/2019 Amps 208 @ 1.25 +2=121 +3 =103 +4=145 +7=155 +9= 230
Amps 322 1.25
Will test at +1.5 +2.5
keep an eye on then decide how often from then on Poor Salems ears are so sore thats why hes hiding he knows when mommies going to test hes no dumb cat lol apply neosperone ointment with pain reliever 4 times today no cream ! Lol poor things ears hurt so bad he puts his paws over his ears ahh my baby hurts i cnt stand it .

Aw, poor Salem's ears!

With that high a PMPS, hopefully you won't have to do much testing tonight. How about starting with just a +2 to see how things are going?

If he's still high at +2, get another test at +4-- if you're lucky, he'll still be high and you can call it an early night and give his ears a rest.

If he's starting to drop down at +2, I'd recommend giving him a small snack with carbs-- similar to what you did this morning to keep him surfing in the blue numbers. That seemed to work pretty well!

I can't stay up tonight, but I will check in again tomorrow. I'm sure others will be here tonight if you need help.

It's so great to hear that Salem is feeling better (other than the ears, of course)!

:bighug::kiss::)Hope im saying this right but with the depot from the other units we tried and it looks like its kicking in how long does it usually set in and go on to the unit you changed to ? I mean its what 5-7 first start of insulin . sandi said 3 days always when it kicks in or its full effect i guess you would say . Im glad Sandi suggested againt the 2 units the hospital wanted 2 units 12/12 i agreed when i got home before i fed him it read 196 at +8.5 then 177 @ +11.5 im glad we didnt do that ! Thanks Sandi !
