Nice to see those blues!

I saw in your signature that you give raw chicken necks for her teeth. I am interested in trying that. How big of a piece do you give and how often?

Hi Bobbie, I feed chicken necks to Harry. I just give him a whole chicken neck. Some people cut them up.
Chicken giblets are good too for the teeth...you might call the gizzards.
I also feed Harry chicken frames which I cut up into about 60 gram pieces.....about 2inches square.
Always supervise them when they eat bones.
I also clean Harry's teeth each night, but I have been doing that since he was a kitten.
Clover will not let me clean her teeth.....I wouldn't even try....I'd be covered in scratches.

Thanks Bron! I’ll have to see if I can get turkey necks from my butcher since Bubba is allergic to chicken now.

I would imagine it is quite messy!

how is Harrys teeth since you've done that?? I wish I stuck with it.. I know they both have one molar that looks like it could be pulled, but I can't afford the vet bill that would come. I always get nervous when I see them crunch the bones- worrying that they might swallowing too much? I think its hard to wrap my head around raw bones don't cut and cooked ones do. Funny how nature makes sure of that.

Ill give them a neck each. I don't know how often to do it- I think my vet said two-three times a week? Im not up on it though. Ive fed gizzards before too- those are easier to come by, at least where I live. I still get a little nervous feeding them a neck because of the bones but I know thats silly because raw bones are ok.

Hi Rosa,
I would set your alarm and get a +5 to check how low Mimi is going.
So, Ive been feeling anxious getting blood from Mimis ears lately. I feel like I have to prick them more than once and when I do, there isn't enough blood to fill the .5 amount for the Reli-on. (the alphratrak only took .3, which believe it or not seems to be a difference) I think she's getting scar tissue from me pricking. I try and do it in between the edge of the ear and that vein, but it doesn't always bleed enough. Ive put vaseline on the area and warmed it with my hands or a heated towel. sometimes I get a good spot, other times I strike out. lately Ive been striking out the first couple of times, so its becoming someone I am now dreading doing.

What size lancet are you using?
A 26 or 28 is best.
I’m using a 31g. So the thicker needle are better?

also, someone posted a video one time on here showing how to use a digital caliber to measure insulin, because I’m confused how it can do that if I’m pulling it from the syringe
