Hi everyone SOOO Amethyst did a dive this morning I told them at the hospital she needs to be monitored closely:mad: So far at 11AM she has dropped down to 62 on the Alpha Track. The Dr. said she may have to stay another night I DISAGREE! She has not been eating there I brought her Human food last night which she ate. They only gave her 7U last night and 7U this AM. I told them to put her on a drip if needed Is that right?? Also I feel she will be much better at home now with me Is that right?? I test Amethyst with the Relion Meter and Strips soo her reading will be different this PM by about 80 points. The Dr. said No Insulin tonight or tomorrow AM?? Is that right? I am looking forward to all of your help once again Thank you:bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
If she has responded to the treatment for whatever you took her in for and is doing well in that respect, once her BG is stable, I would suggest bringing her home where you can monitor and we can help with dosing. She did not have any symptoms of a hypo at the clinic with the 62, right? Normally, I wouldn’t worry about a 62 but with a 7u depot, it’s best if they get her BG up.

We need to see where her BG is at her normal shot time but we would normally not skip two shots. My suggestion is to be sure her BG is stable and all other issues resolved, then bring her home and feed/monitor her. Be sure you get a +11 so we can have time to respond on dose.

Because she’s acro, and dropped to 62, even though she’s a long term diabetic, it might be smart to reduce the dose if you shoot tonight. I suspect she dropped because they weren’t feeding her but safety is safety. I’m tagging @Wendy&Neko so she can also weigh in.
 
Thank you:bighug: YES I want her home! Even her brother is hardly eating because he misses her!! I scheduled the Taxi for 4:30PM that will bring me to the hospital at 5PM and we should be home at 5:30 PM to start her 12 hour schedule. Which works out well with the Time Change tonight NO she has no hypo symptoms Thank God BUT she is a Late Nadir cat That is why I test her around +11 Thank you again:bighug::bighug::)

She is fine Thank God but she has not been eating because she wants to come home. Her last BG was 62 on the Alpha Trac. I just want to make sure her numbers are safe to bring home That is why I thought a Glucose drip would help?? Thank you:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::) She was treated for an Acute Asthma Attack brought on by me giving her Insulin in a Muscle.:arghh:
 
Did the vet clinic test again after that 62? Neko also didn’t eat enough in ICU and earned a reduction. I agree with you, if she otherwise healthy and is going low, I would rather she be home with you so you can test and give Karo/honey as needed. When you go this afternoon, try to get all the test data they have done. Any preshot tests by the vet?

As for dose, she has been on half dose since going to the clinic. Let’s see that +11 and go from there.

Hi Sorry I am posting so late I asked them to test her at 5PM before I put her in the Taxi She had dropped again to 57 on the Alpha Track I had brought Karo there so I gave her 1ML for the ride home I was not going to let them keep her another night!!! We got home at 6PM I immediately tested her SHE HAD DROPPEDTO 53 on the Relion Meter I do not know what they did to her there with her insulin!!! For the past 3 hours I have been trying to keep her up she goes up and then drops back down again!!!Right now she is at 70 after another 1ML of Karo and a jar of Baby food I will keep testing her until she stays up THank you for being here:bighug::bighug::bighug:

NO N/S tonight sorry I have not updated her SS because I am monitoring her They told me they gave her 7U this AM I think they gave her more than that:mad: Thank you for being her for her:bighug::bighug::bighug::)
 
Yes, it’s important to keep working on her numbers. With that huge of a depot, this could go on all night. Do you have any higher carb food than baby food? Remember that it takes two hours for HC/karo to wear off so if you’ve been giving her karo, you’re up for another two hours to be sure the BG doesn’t come back down after the karo wears off.

A HC or MC food with gravy or a drop or two of karo might work better. Will she eat? i would not worry about carbing her up and getting her out of those lower numbers. They are safe numbers on a human meter but for an acro cat, they are lower than what I’d like to see.

Thank you for being here She is exhausted:( My poor little girl She wants to be left alone so she can sleep but I am talking to her and telling her she is home now and safe and Mommy has to keep checking her to keep her safe:):bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: She is up to 90 but she keeps doing this she goes up and then down She does not want to eat any more she just wants to sleep:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you:bighug::bighug: She just inhaled another 1/2 can of H/C with some Karo in it and dropped back down again to 85 Not as low but she is still dropping:mad: Thank you I keep talking to her and telling her that :):bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
