PMPS 142 lowest, +1 147; +2 148 +5 228 +10 257

Sorry I just added this mornings. She was 179, then fed, then 234 this morning

tonight she was 110 at +10 then fed, now at 9:15 pm she’s 146
Are you going to be at home tonight to test?
I would stall for 20 mins, don't feed and then test after the 20 mins.
Can you update the SS please?
And you can take down the 911now :)

Shoot that will set me back for tomorrow. I have to work at 10. So don’t feed and test again?

What does good numbers look like to give insulin? Like what’s the standard “hold if it’s below, “

I think numbers are rising and it should e fine to shoot IF you're prepared: can stay. up to monitor, have strips, and high carb food should they be needed.

And PLEASE take the 911 down. That indication is to be used if a cat is in a life threatening situation.

Sorry, I felt like it was an emergency. Every minute matters because I’m messing up her schedule.

I can understand how it might "feel" that way but it's not a life threatening situation. When we see a 911, people drop everything and run to help. Messing up a shot time is not emergent.

the last time I messed up a shot time and didn’t shoot her, she went DKA for 6 days so I’m very paranoid and don’t want her (can’t afford to have her) get sick again. Maybe there’s a guideline I can follow so I can make my own decision next time this happens

IF you can go out to the shops and buy some high carb food after you shoot, and you are prepared to stay up all night if necessary to test her and keep her safe, then YES, go ahead and give her 1.5 units.
I will watch for you during the night.
Go ahead and give the insulin and then I will talk to you about the food.

What if I lowered it to 1.25- would that mess up her TR schedule?

Look for fancy feast GRAVY LOVERS.
If you can't get those, can you post on your phone and ask for help.
It's important that you get high carb.
Some FF ones have gravy in the name bit are not high carb

It's actually fine to add corn syrup or honey to LC food. Gabby was gluten sensitive and I couldn't use a gravy type food. I added either Karo or honey to her food to bump up the carbs.

You can put something like "Dose Help" in the subject line. There is a Question Mark icon that will also work.

Oh ok so the ? Gets attention too?

Well done getting the +1
I would give Mimi a good teaspoon of her normal low carb food now.

How did you go with the high carb food?

I found the gravy lovers and grabbed a few cans to have on hand! I also picked up Karo syrup (its light- or is that the only kind?)

I just gave them some raw chicken necks- really good for their teeth! Mimi has been biting up cardboard and paperbags so I was wondering if her one tooth is acting up. They both have one back molar that looks like it needs to be pulled, but I cannot afford any more surgeries, and the holistic vet here told me chicken necks might help lessen it.

How does that number look?
What numbers are good to have pre shot? anything over 200?
In the beginning before there is much data on the SS we say dont shoot below 200.
When you move over to the Lantus and levemir forum and are gathering data we say don't shoot below 150.
As you get more data and see how Mimi reacts to the insulin, you can start to lower the preshot number.
Be guided by the experienced members as to when to shoot.
If you are in doubt, always stall, don't feed and ask for help. Put a ? In the subject line.

I'm glad you got some Gravy Lovers FF. always make sure you have a few cans in the cupboard, as well as honey or Karo.

You need to keep an eye on Mimis tooth if you think it might be infected/bad because we don't want her with another infection.

Can you get a +2 please?
And change your subject line to PMPS 142..lowest preshot..+1 147;
And add the +2 and subsequent numbers into the subject line as you get them as well as posting them into the thread lse.
That way people can see what is happening without opening the thread and if you need help
