Yesterday Shenanigans start at post #9

Seems Buddy is doing better, I was pretty scared not knowing what the heck was going on, there was no real good reason. I am going to try to talk to the vet today but I may change vets for him as I really don't want the backlash from the current one about how I am not doing what she said. I finally got to bed at 3am and up at 6am today, It will be a rough one that's for sure.

He is old, Is that a health issue? LOL

No none that we know of he had a full work up when he was diagnosed and no other issues. He has always been a strange wiry kitty that seemed like he was sick but wasn't. I did a keytone check 2 days ago and it was negative. How often should I do that since he has not had an issue with that?

I saw that you got one a couple of days ago. I would get another. I would check regularly when George was high or if he was off in anyway especially if I felt appy was off, vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargic. or just not behaving like himself. They can develop very quickly.
It wouldn't do any harm to check.

I never 'free fed' George would just guzzle it down all at once. I used an Auto feeder with ice packs to keep it cool, he never complains.

some folk freeze portions of food and leave it in the bowl, others put a bit of ice or water to stop it drying out.

Oh yes I will be monitoring. Getting ready to go check him in a few. Something else happened a bit ago. He was purring! Hasn't done that in a while.

Could you have maybe done a fur shot last night? I wonder if he was reacting to the high numbers.

As for free feeding wet food... I just leave it out lol! Ming will eat it and if it's dried, I just put some hot water on it and he'll eat it again.

Pretty certain it wasn't a fur shot, but it did cross my mind. I always check him really well after a shot. I am really hesitant to talk to the vet, she has already come down on me about the right way to do things so I think I will be seeking out a new vet, I am going to watch him close and get a new vet set up and if it happens again then we will have somewhere to go. Hoping it was more just New dose wonkey.

I’m just concerned it’s something more but I might be projecting. My friend’s kitty had a few odd behaviours (limp on one side, one eye closed, yowling, and then frothing at the mouth) and I immediately said: seizure! Please go get a neuro work up. She’s getting one for her kitty this week.

Yeah there is one about 10 miles from me. It would do if I needed. I will be getting the new vet set up today or tomorrow.

I’m glad he’s better today. I would press forward ASAP on a new vet and getting him checked out.

Those numbers from last night don’t look like NDW to me. I thought he might be starting a bounce but it doesn’t look like that to me either. One might think that’s what it was because he came right back down today but it doesn’t fit his patterns and especially on the fourth cycle of a new dose. If you had given a fur shot, his AMPS would have been higher.

It just seems like those pinks were associated with whatever was going on with him last night. Any kind of health stressor can cause the BG to rise.

I hope he continues to feel better. And I agree with Gill...he’s still a young cat!!

Ok Looking good for the PMPS 142 . Lets not have a repeat of last night or even worse, the opposite ! Just nice even numbers and maybe some greens. Mama needs some sleep!
