Good Morning L, B, & L ~

It's been a while since we posted. Bubba is still enjoying the falls and spending 3-4 hours a day outside playing. Soon it will be too cold for him to want to be outside long. His ears are better too!

Today is 4 years since the removal of his right eye. Ugh, want a scary time that was. Glad it's over...

Sunday, I threw a surprise 60th party for DH at a restaurant for 29 of us. It was a huge success! He was so surprised and so emotional reading the letters I asked friends and family to write to him for a memory box I created. It was just a lovey event and we were both spent through yesterday which was his actual BD.

I need to catch up here!

Hi Bobbie - what a good report. It's Bubba's day and he is beautiful with just one eye. I think I told you before I had a red Cocker Spaniel who lost an eye; it was a very, very rough time, especially for me; I have special feelings for Bubba:cat:

What a beautiful thing you did for your husband. I appreciate the idea very much thank you;)

Happy 60th Birthday to your DH! Sounds like you had a great time and have tons of good memories to keep forever!
I can't even imagine how horribly scary that must have been for you when Bubba lost his eye, but look at him now, just as beautiful as ever and purrfectly green!
Keep on truckin Bubs! We love you! :D:bighug::D

No, I did not know about your puppy who lost his eye. So, you can really relate to how very hard it was for me and him. Did you puppy handle it well? Bubba developed ketones after the surgery which apparently is common, stress, higher BG, not eating as much......

The memory box was a hit. I asked everyone invited to please send me an email with their favorite memory or sentiment of DH. I printed them on pretty paper and put them into glassine envelopes and into a wooden box made in India.

Right after dessert, I presented him the box. His mom wanted to read her out loud to him which was a great way to kick it off. Lots and lots of tears, laughter......it's a day we will both remember for a long time.

Here pics of the box.

Bobbie - so awesome what you did for DH; you made beautiful forever memories - love the box - I love finding boxes at antique stores. Your idea may spread:)
My sweet pup Maddie was about 9 when she lost her eye (glaucoma, cryosurgery, then removal). She recovered with no issues (except for dementia at the end) and lived to 13. It was a grief/loss (eye loss) that you understand. She was very, very cute, and after she lost her eye, the compliments stopped. That hurt too, but I never stopped telling her how beautiful and perfect she was.
I'm just happy Bubba is good now - please give him extra love from me:)

Yes, Bubba is still my handsome boy. Heck , they just look like they are winking.

I’m sorry your Maddie is gone. :bighug:

Oh my...how nice that you threw a big party for DH - only 60, huh? Lovely idea with the glassine envelopes, the box and a special memory from everyone! You're very creative!:joyful:

For Bubba...he's certainly a trooper. You've both been through a lot...that was a rough time...and he's pulled thru so well. I'm happy for all of you! Happy Belated birthday to DH! :bighug:

Happy Birthday to hubby. And to know he loved the box of memories I think is great. My hubby wouldn't appreciate anything like that.

What a neat idea.. love that his mom read hers to him. What a special event.

Hope you get a month of respite before the holidays are upon us

Glad Bubba is enjoying the fall outside weather and his health is good now. :bighug::cat:

How is your mom doing?

Mom is doing good. She sleeps a lot lately. I had someone stay with her for the party. I didn’t want her falling asleep in her fillet and I wanted to not have worry about her while I played hostess.

My siblings all stopped back at my house afterwards to visit with her and she got to see Eric open his gifts. The next morning , she had no recollection of it. :(

I am glad to hear that your Mom is doing good. I know that it must be very very difficult to deal with the memory issues along with all of her other issues. Big hugs to you Bobbie!
