It's a lot lower than you've shot before and we usually like to work down more gradually, but Blaze had other ideas!

It's good that you had that data from this afternoon-- we know he's been in blue a while and he's not in the middle of the fast drop portion of his bounce-clearing. So there's a good chance that either he'll be heading up soon from these blues, or else just keep floating along in his first "shoot low to stay low" Lantus experiment.

The +1 might be influenced by the slightly higher carb meal. Will you be able to get a +2 as well tonight?

I know, I haven’t shot this low yet but I panicked when I wasn’t getting a response and didn’t want to get too off schedule with stalling too much so I went for it :nailbiting:

I know we want to shoot low to stay low and since I gave a reduced dose yesterday morning, I was afraid to mess things up and give another reduced dose. I hope it was okay to shoot these numbers tonight.

I will definitely get a +1 and 2 tonight and feed accordingly. I have an auto feeder if I have to carb him up and head to bed.

Yes, carb that dude up if he has ANY inclination of keeping you up . Keep the monkeys away :woot:

I hope you feel better soon, Sarah. Great job shooting tonight!

One thing that I think is being missed here is that you shot a reduced dose yesterday morning. That means his cycle count on 1.5u starts over again with last night’s cycle. This is cycle 3. With TR, you want to hold the dose for 6-10 consecutive cycles when you are seeing blue numbers or less. In my experience, if you are seeing blue, you are best to hold for at least ten cycles. Some cats are slow responders.

And it is important to note Gill’s comments that things change. A cat that might have responded quickly to a dose increase might no longer do so.

I hope those 15 monkeys don’t keep you up tonight!!

:joyful: :joyful: :woot:  That monkeys deal will keep me chuckling for quite a while , Sarah :bighug: Praying for Blaze to behave and for you to sleep soundly ❤️
I know, I can’t help but laugh every time I read that monkey business. This cold medicine must be strong! Thanks Beth, I hope Blaze behaves himself too:bighug:

Thank you Marje! I felt like I needed to shoot tonight after the reduced shot yesterday morning.

And got it, I will hold this dose for ten cycles then and reevaluate the need for an increase on the morning of 11/2, correct?

Unless he drops lower and earns a reduction. OR.....if he bounces, clears it and just has nothing for you so all you see are high blues and yellows. OH yeah....there’s always a caveat ;);)

You think HC or MC snacks? I was gonna try to get one more test at +3 and then take some nighttime cold medicine and call it a night. I can’t deal with the monkeys too much longer!
I'd get a + 3 ... how carb sensitive is he ? I deal with Elmo who has NO carb sensitivity so I have no concept of MC touching him when he's diving .Maybe give 1 t MC now and see where he is at +3... are you sure you can make it to +3 ???

Yes, I agree, if you can get a +3, great. I suppose there's a small chance he'll have turned it around and started his bounce so you can rest easy, you never know! But if not, carb away and leave him some good stuff in the autofeeder so you don't have to worry.

Bright side: these are great numbers! :woot: o_O :D!!!!!

Okay gave him Mc at +2 and set an alarm for +3. He usually does fine with Mc if he isn’t doing big, fast drops so we’ll see where he’s at at +3. I don’t think I can stay up past +3 though, I’m feeling pretty crappy and tired

Only 40 more minutes until +3, the alarm is set and I haven’t sedated myself yet with cold meds so I’m okay! Sounds like a plan!

And yes, I’m loving these numbers! He just picks the worst times to get into these good numbers!:woot:

+3 is 70, looks like he’s slowed down. I’m loading up the auto feeder and taking my cold medicine and hitting the hay. I’m staying home from work tomorrow so will be able to monitor Blaze but he might bounce from tonight.

thank you @Nan & Amber (GA) and @Beth 73 for helping me deal with Blaze and the monkeys :D

Blaze, little guy, we have got to talk about timing sometime! Maybe he's reading the condo again and figured out a strategy to get an all-night supply of those yummy carbs :woot:.

Sarah, please get some sleep, and feel better tomorrow!

I'm sorry, Gill, I wasn't trying to shut down the discussion, I was mostly talking to myself about not really wanting to continue with this. In particular, I did not think it made much sense to make detailed plans for dose changes a week in advance, and yet I'd just made a comment about that very thing. I did that because I felt like I'd been misunderstood, but I was aware that doing so could help push the discussion into the weeds. I should not have used the term "belaboring," or else I should have been more clear about the targets (myself and my participation in discussion of these points rather than the whole discussion).
No worries Nan, just a misunderstanding then, I wasn't sure how to read it.
It's helpful from a learning experience to have these discussions, so no need to shut yourself down either.:)

I see Blaze likes having his momma home and has rewarded with a green.

You know what happens when you make comments like that and Blaze reads his condo? Didn't take him long to get back to business, and that is looking like a rather long sting in blue/green for him yesterday. Glad you had some help with those numbers, good job shooting, was really pleased to see those greens when I got up this morning.

Hope you are feeling better by the morning Sarah.
