Hi! Can anyone please check my cat’s spreadsheet and give me some advice as to what his safe dose would be while we go on a three-day trip? We're using Lantus and we leave the day after tomorrow. We keep having to reduce his dose so I’m not sure what even is a “safe” dose for while we’re gone - is it possible that he’s heading towards remission? While we’re gone there won’t be anyone who would be able to test him because he resists so much no matter what (he’s okay with injections being administered by others but he only lets us test and no one else) so this is a really big problem since it’s not that safe and I would be way too worried during the trip without knowing his numbers. Do you think we should get him off the insulin for the time we’re gone (and test him as soon as we get back)? Or should we have someone just give him a really small dose (like 0.1U) without testing? But what if that dose suddenly becomes too high for him and we won’t even know until it’s too late? Lately his numbers would go way down already at +1.5 and +2 and hadn’t we tested frequently it could have been very dangerous for him. I’m really worried we would mess up his numbers but I’m even more worried about a possible hypo while we’re gone so I’m not exactly sure what to do, if I had to cancel the trip I would but I’m still going to have to pay a lot since I can’t get a full refund so I hope it won’t come to that
(Oh also I use the world template, I’m not sure if it’s like that for others too but for me it always goes straight to the US template when I open his spreadsheet regardless of that so in order to see all of his numbers you need to click on the world one).
