Good morning all!! So after last night’s adventure, I think she is she due for a reduction, correct??? Normally she has gotten 0.6 units. I have to work all day today so not sure what I should give her today. My daughter can feed her but that is all as she doesn’t know how to take a reading. Also, this Amps is not a fasted sample.

So as expected she went up and I am assuming that this is a bounce secondary to the lows and the reduction? I presume I continue with the reduced amount of .25 units for a week and if the BGs continue to run high then I go up slightly or is it back to .6? She ate and has 5p’s going on!!

It could be a little bit of a bounce and a little from the reduced dose. Yes you want to hold the dose for 7 days, unless she earns a reduction, and then do a curve to see if you need to change the dose Yay for the 5p's.

I have a question about the food. Should what I offer her depend upon what her values are? That is, should she have higher values, would I try to steer her to eat more of a LC like 3 vs 6 or 9% or it doesn’t really matter. I know when they’re diving you obviously want a MC or HC but does it matter as much when they’re in the pinks and yellows?? Am I overthinking the food?? Thanks!!

What food you feed depends a lot on the individual cat. They vary a lot in how carb sensitive they are. I personally never fed anything higher than LC unless Neko was low. Partly because I fed raw which was pretty much all LC anyway. Take good notes on what food you feed, when and how much, that is outside of normal feeding. I put it in the Remarks part of the spreadsheet. That wa I could see patterns or effects on numbers. Instead of clock time, I used + times. Made it easier for others looking at the spreadsheet.

Ok. As a rule with my 6 cats, I’ve always fed the same thing bc the last thing I want are finicky cats and a thousand opened half eaten cans. I just didn’t know with diabetes if I should really be trying to feed the appropriate carb based on the readings only vs what she likes of low/ medium carbs. Charlotte can sometimes be very picky and this was even before the onset of FD. I’ll make sure that I pay attention to which foods she has eaten the most of and what is going on with the BGs concurrently. Use of dehydrated cooked chicken is okay on top of the moist if I have to coax, correct?? Thanks! :D

I wanted to feed the same to my crew too. Neko would finish off any leftovers, so I had too, plus it had to be OK with other kitty health conditions. I rotated foods so no one got bored. Freeze dried chicken is normally OK, but one of those ECID things. Jill’s Alex got a numbers bump from FD chicken. My girl would surf on freeze dried.
