10/16 - Lantus - Flash - AMPS - 356

I hope he can continue to flush his bladder out as much as possible...those UTI's - if he has one - can be just awful. And yes, good catch...that peeing in unexpected places is definitely a clue of a possible UTI...

Hope the vet can get that analysis done quickly and give you a remedy.

Sending feel better vines to Flash :)

If Flash does have a UTI it could be one of the reasons he's had some higher numbers lately... I hope everything turns out well!

no UTI, so maybe he's just feeling better, enough to pee other places unfortunately. Something I can only watch it seems, yet he has a new cardboard box he sleeps in most of the day and he won't pee in that. I wonder if he's mad at me some times for sticking him so many times, but if that smell is still in carpet he may think it's ok to pee there like it's part of litter box, not sure though I'm sure professionally cleaning the carpet may be a challenge to remove that odor.

Did you ever get those syringes? I think you really need to take his dose down to 1.75 units. For 3 out of the last 4 nights, you've had to reduce his dose because it's been lower than you are used to. It's better to find a dose where you can keep shooting the same amount each time. That plus he did earn a reduction down to 1.75 units on the 11th.

Hi Brian, it's great to hear Flash doesn't have a UTI, but there must be some other reason he's peeing outside of his litter box. How are his legs? Is he able to jump?

What Wendy said is very true, Lantus insulin likes consistent doses. On the 2 unit dose, it looks like Flash could be bouncing up after hitting lowish numbers. What you ultimately want is a nice flat cycle all the same color blue then green (then off the insulin hopefully!)

Have a wonderful day! :)

Unfortunately, the neuropathy in his hind legs make it so he can't jump or run, guessing there may be pain there. I'm hopeful the b12 will in time address that.

Several times I have called Walmart only to be told they had their needles sold out before I could get there after work, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do to get there in time for their shipments which seems bizarre to me. There must be a lot of diabetics in my area, so I believe what happens in when a prescription call comes in they order just those needles and no extras for whatever reason, and they refuse to order needles for me w/o a prescription, kind of a catch-22 it seems.
