Feeding schedule multiple cats

Finnegan has not been getting insulin shots since September 22. Was hoping for some advice on feeding him and our other two cats. No one likes the same food, of course. And Finnegan is a very slow eater. Breakfast might take two hours for him to finish even though he eats very well, liking his food. So getting him on a schedule is very hard because he doesn’t eat everything at once. Later in the day, he’s more likely to eat everything at one sitting although not always.

Does anyone have some tips? Is it very important that he eat at certain times? Right now, he’s more of a grazer, eating when he indicates he is hungry.

I want to do what’s best for my little boy, but not certain what that is...especially with two other cats to throw in the mix. Should they all be getting fed at certain times and only then?

He is wonderful! Playing, learning to love unabashedly. Appetite is good, just a whole new cat since the shots were stopped. Blood glucose in 77-81 range, both fasting and non-fasting. Checking weekly. Hoping to get him neutered soon; waiting on vet to says she’s comfortable doing so. She wanted one more fasting reading, which we took yesterday: 77.

Just trying to figure out the feeding as he’s a bit of a picky eater, loving one thing on Tuesday, but turning his nose up at it on Wednesday. We’ve got a few favorites that we’ve switched between when he gets tired of one. And he eats just a bit at a time now that he’s not needing so much fuel as opposed to gobbling the whole bit in one sitting.

Thank you so much for asking about my boy. We recently lost our precious Ciara to cancer (the same day we got word Finnegan was in remission), and having him about has done the tiniest bit in closing the hole that her loss left in our hearts. It always takes me back the amount of pain losing a cat can cause. Like a human loss.

So very sorry to hear about Ciara, it does leave a very painful hole. Peace and comfort, let Finnegan and the others love you to coming to terms with the loss. This too is a long journey and one that we all travel. Hearts with you, virtual arms holding you.

Good luck with the feeding issues, and as far as pickiness..he is exercising his cat privileges!
