So what to do now. LT has been on his 1 drop for numerous cycles now and the only choice would be to go back to the 1 drop+ which my husband really doesn't want to do since it's hard to be consistent with it plus LT shows he'll drop to the lime greens. Plus, we've found out that me staying up all night with a threatened hypo takes too much out of me health-wise. So is the best plan to just stick where we are? I do plan to do more tests today, but I think it's just going to show that he's comfortable staying on the beach with reliable consistent numbers.

Sorry I’m not sure. Definitely a tough situation. At least on the 1 drop LT is in healthy numbers :) hope you get some good advice soon :)

I think the idea is you increase the dose along with the higher carb food to keep him from earning a reduction, but hopefully get into high greens.
Would being in the green at a higher dose, but more carbs make it more likely to move closer to OTJ or is sitting in lower blues likely to do the same thing given enough time?

I'm going to be gone for a little bit after doing a +2. Husband has to be picked up from the body shop where he is having his truck worked on.

To go along with what Carla said . . . you don't want to force or hurry a reduction so it has a better chance of sticking. I was worried Tina might try to go low just a couple days after reducing, and I made sure that wouldn't happen.
I know this still isn't a direct answer to your latest question! I haven't worked with raising carbs to flatten or prevent a reduction, but I see it's done!

IMHO, I wouldn’t change a thing. He’s not a candidate for feeding higher carb foods at this time. We only do that for a cat that is on one drop, is getting into lower nadirs that would normally call for a reduction, but is still seeing a lot of blue.

LTs nadirs on the pet meter are just fine. He’s doing great! As Tina and others have said, the phase of holding the dose can sometimes be a long one.

Besides reducing when he drops below 68, the other reduction threshold is a week in normal numbers, mostly green. When I look back a week, he’s not there yet even discounting the kibble thievery.

You’re doing great! If he does drop below 68, tag me and I’ll help you figure out what to do next, ok? :)

Thanks Marje for you input - I'll tighten up my patience pants. I gave a 1/2 tsp because I had to be gone about 45 minutes - just no way around it. He's doing great and I'll check him again at +4. He is so carb sensitive - I could almost just wave food in front of his nose and have him go up. I hope today's drop in numbers begins a pattern over the days to come, but then again, this is LT:rolleyes:.

You’re very welcome. You are lucky that he’s that carb sensitive. You’ve done a super job. Don’t forget to tag me with any questions, if you want, and definitely reach out if he drops below 68. We have options!!!:D

Any visit to the lagoon is a good visit...

I agree with above...you need to hold things just as they are...you're giving him time to heal...remember the beta cells in those feline pancreas'? Those are going to need time to heal. Just keep him steady and if he sits in the blues, that's great - he's not getting worse by any means. You can't rush the road to reduction...it just cannot be done. You're doing a great job...just keep doing what you're doing...remember 'Time to Heal' (say that a hundred times...):p

Have a nice evening Suzanne! Get some rest while LT is relaxing on the beach :)

Well we just be hangin' here on the beach and waving to the other kitties as they surf the lagoon:p. But don't worry about us, we've got patience with a capital P and don't mind being called beach bums :);).
