Where should we go from here? I tried an increase on day 8 with my boys. They didn't take it too well. Ittle hit the 50's yesterday(@+4) and Moey hit the 60's today(@+3). For our protocol below 90 isn't ideal. With the drop in #'s the kitty's have to take a reduction. How bad is this going to hinder their progress? I love the lower readings but, I'm not sure that I could manage 2 cats on TR. Should I have waited longer than 7 days to increase their dose? Can it take longer for some cats to build the depot, thus giving the false impression that an increase is needed? How long should I hold the reduction? I obviously want to see my boys at the beach and lagoon. Am I just expecting too much too early? I hate what the high readings are doing to my boys' bodies. I don't want to play with fire regarding ketones. If/when I do have to increase their dose...should I increase less than .25u since they didn't take that well? I'm just feeling a little defeated and a bit puzzled. Thanks for any info! I appreciate this group so much.

It was a good 5-6 months before I started to see anything that even resembled a pattern so yes, you're expecting too much too soon I think.

As far as ketones, if they've never had them before and they're eating and acting fine, it's not usually something you need to worry about, even with the high numbers.

High numbers are hard on us but they actually take a long time to do damage …..it's the low ones that kill quickly.

You need to put on a pair of our famous "patience pants" and wait out the bounces.

Thanks for the reply Chris. I'm happy the problem is with me and not the kitties or Lantus. I can control the me part of this equation(for the most part). Do you have those patience pants in blue, size large!?! Oh and they must have extra large pockets for the boys to sit in:) I really appreciate you "holding my hand and the boys' paws" a bit during this transition. I'm use to the affects of NPH-N...rather administrator friendly and for the most part, predictable. I need to forget the NPH-N mindset and dive into the Lantus pool! I hope you have a great evening and weekend!:cat:

Why don't you come on over to the Lantus forum? You'll get the most experienced eyes watching out for you and the boys there.

We post a little differently there but you can read through this "Making the most of your Lantus experience" post to help you learn.

How about this pair of patience pants? They're a little tight though!

I do post my AMPS/PMPS and readings throughout the day on the Lantus forum. I probably overlooked "Making the most of the Lantus experience". I'll give it a read. I love the patience pants. They're just purrrfect!
