Winter is trying to sneak in this a.m. with 36 degrees outside. We might try to get another short ride in later today once it warms up and chores are done.

I try to remember when LT's numbers aren't what I want them to be, that he only has diabetes. I see others with cats that have many other illnesses and have to remind myself that I could be dealing with much more. And then that reminds me of how blessed I am with a wonderful healthy family.

Happy Saturday, Suzanne ❤️ Isn't that the truth, to be happy for and focus on what we have instead of what we don't . :bighug: My goal for each day is to remain present , to take care of right now , be anxious for nothing and leave tomorrow in tomorrow . Today has enough to handle all on its own for sure :bighug:

Mr. Consistent is repeating yesterday morning's cycle. We'll see if he can stay in the lagoon before heading back to the beach.

36 degrees  wanna trade for some 90’s

Surfing without additional food. Checking again in 1/2 hour. I'll feed more MC before leaving - stalling DH as long as possible.

1 tsp. of his usual LC to keep him surfing. About an hour away from his usual nadir. I'm going to go help DH finish up saddling horses and I'll be back to check in 1/2 hour.

Oh how fun! You know Suzanne LT can hear and understand that you're making plans - I'd suggest going out to the car when you want to make plans to do anything that doesn't involve him...LOL! I used to say we needed to put on our aluminum foil hats and hide in the closet to even 'think' of any plans...as the very minute I'd try to go somewhere Luci would put on her diving suit and away she'd go! She has spoiled more of my plans than I care to even think about!

Once I actually took her along to my sis-in-laws - we were going to go to FleaMasters - it's a huge market in Fort Myers with a little bit of everything - and Luci was going to stay at my SIL's in her carrier - all nice and safe and cool. So I get her there, test and where is her BG? Oh around 40 something...so there we all sit...waiting for her BG to come up after getting some MC, etc. and we wait and wait...everyone in the family knows I'm going to do what it takes to keep Luci safe - I said they could go ahead without me - they decided to wait...oh well. It is what it is...I'm not going to leave her with her BG that low...and they all know it.

So...I hope you're able to get away and enjoy your ride! It sounds like fun and lots of beautiful scenery! And tell LT to Get Away from da Sharkies!

:)

Foil hats and hide in the closet -LOVE that:cool:. Sort of a Murphy's law going on here. If it had been a weekday, I would have called my friend to come check/test him, but I know for sure her DH has the day off (not usual for him on a Saturday) and I want her to have that time with him and her children.

Good catch with the 62 drop. Now the challenge will be to get him to stay in safe lower numbers for longer periods of time.

What is the % of Carbs he is eating? Maybe some experimentation with giving a LC Snack around +2 or so can slow him down and encourage him to hang in safe green numbers.

I hear ya! We are in a Winter Storm Warning this weekend, high temp predicted 38 or 39 with a low of 33. We have had rain, rain/snow mix/and just plain wet snow flakes with quite strong wind gusts. Icky, ugly day. Idjit thought he wanted to go outside for a walkabout earlier, but when I opened the door he stretched his neck out as far as he could, sniffed, looked at me like "what the heck?" and with a very loud "meow", turned and ran back into the kitchen. He has his litter box, several warm soft plushy blankets to nap on, so he's doing fine.

I hope LT won't think he needs a late night PJ party, and you can all snuggle in nice and warm.

Normally I would have let him ride w/o more food at a 71, but I had put off of trail ride as long as possible, so I gave him some LC. He eats Friskies Poultry Platter Pate, which according to Dr. Lisa is 4% carbs. The MC I gave him today is 13%. Maybe I need to buy some food that is more in the 8% range. He jumped to that 134 on 1 tsp of the 13% and 1 tsp of the LC. He seems to be very carb reactive.

Thanks for the suggestion about a +2 snack to slow LT down a bit. Would I just save some back from his PM meal so the calories stay the same? @Bobbie And Bubba

Nice numbers for LT today. Glad you got to get out for your ride.
We had a wonderful ride. Had a little excitement though. We heard people coming towards us on the trail which is usually no big deal. I was in front as they rounded a corner with 2 BIG dogs. My horse spooked, did a 180 and would have blazed down the trail if my husband, who had gotten off his mule, hadn't been standing there. I was doing the emergency stop as my husband grabbed the bridle. Lesson, next time we hear people, we dismount immediately. Crazy thing is, my husband rides my horse with a friend all the time and he has a border collie that always goes with him. Now, to see if my LT babysitter, who has big dogs, will bring one/two over so I can start to get Catsby used to them.

Oh my goodness, Suzanne ! Glad all ended well !!

Suzanne , could you do me a favor and let me know what 8 carb foods you find ...I have combed Dr Lisa's list for higher LC food also low in phosphorus and it becomes quite a challenge . When I have to be cramming food down him I also have to take that into account . Eye yi yi , as Ricky Ricardo would say :woot:

I held back about 2 - 2 1/2 tsp of his LC food from his dinner for a +2 snack. Should I make the +2 snack more?

How low in phos does it have to be?

Halo's Spot Choice-grain free Chicken Shredded is 9% carbs and 155 mg/100 kcal.

So I gave 1.5 tsp. LC @ +2, as suggested by @Bobbie And Bubba, to keep LT from going low too early. He's now dropped to a 78 and I'm baffled as to what to do next to get him surfing. He's very, very carb sensitive so I'm sure I should stick with LC if I'm to give him anymore. @Bron and Sheba (GA) @Wendy&Neko @Chris & China (GA). As much as I would like to be able to stay up late, I'm fading fast. Any and all suggestions appreciated:):cat::joyful:!

That boy is on a mission. Why don’t you try some more LC with 1/2 teas MC and see if that gets him surfing, and test in 1 hour. Alternatively you can try just LC.
I gave him another 1.5 tsp. of his LC since he really soared with the MC in the AM cycle. I'll set my alarm for an hour. Thanks for your help Bron - you other side of the worlders (is that a real term) are constantly busy with Elmo and LT.

Australian Blessing is what she is :bighug:

My reasoning for just LC is (1) that you said he is carb sensitive, and (2) you need to get to bed. If you feed higher carbs, you have to wait a couple hours until it wears off and test again before sleeping. If the LC works on it’s own at the next test, you can sleep earlier.

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: What would we do without Bron, Suzanne ?!?? What a blessing she is :bighug: Believing that Elmo's nadir will make itself obvious soon !!! Linda/Nan/Bron /Carla say he is a late nadir cat ...maybe + 7 or 8 ????

I'm going to check a 1/2 hour from now which is about + 5.25. With this working the way it is, I just might set up my 5 hole auto-feeder to do these little snackies for me. You are right Beth, Bron, Wendy, and Chris have gone beyond the call of duty with our shenanigan, loving' boys.

So Bron, should I leave him at what I call the drop+? It's kind of an inaccurate regular drop plus teeny, tiny, itsy, bitsy drop. I don't want to rush LT back to a drop and, as I said above, I have an auto-feeder that I've never used. With MC and HC, his body will still allow his sugars to go higher.

Amen they have !!' Blessings , each and every one ❤️

Sorry I wasn't around earlier.....My mom fell and hit her head hard and also split her lip.

The first hospital we went to stitched up her lip (4 stitches) and did a CT scan which showed a small brain bleed so they transferred her to the Level 1 Trauma center to be seen by the neurosurgeon.

I may not be around much for the next few days. They admitted her and are going to watch her carefully and repeat the CT tomorrow around 4pm (unless she goes downhill before then)

Oh Chris, I'm so sorry about your mom. Please know that I and DH will be praying that the brain bleed has stopped and that there will be no long term effects from it. Keep us updated as possible.

Chris , oh that’s horrible !,,,, Know we are surrounding you and your momma with love and prayers ❤️ Please keep us updated :bighug::bighug: take care of yourself too ❤️ And she will improve and she will go up hill, not down !!! No brain bleed and healing to every part of her sweet body .....and peace for your heart, dear Chris ❤️❤️❤️
