9/14 Tigger AMPS 156, +2.5 57! Question about decreasing

Well this is going to be a fun day. Thank goodness he did this at the weekend and not yesterday. This is why "shooting low to stay low" scares the crap outta me. Sometimes he'll stay nice even blues with a small dip. Then other times he'll plummet by +2 and need intervention.

But my question is, do we decrease again (to 0.75) or no because we probably shouldn't have shot the full 1 unit this am? Is this an earned reduction? And why does he keep nadiring at shot time? Is there something I'm missing?

I'm not sure when his nadiring......on the 12th after he hit that 154 it would have been good to get another test to see where he was heading.

Same for last night - that was a nice big drop from PMPS to 261 - would have been good to set the alarm (I know, I hate it too) to find out where he was headed then.

If you need to slow the drop, it's time to bring out a little MC and see if you can slow things down in order to prepare for the shot times a bit better...

Get some extra tests - like on 9/7 so you can see what his pattern is. Of course, there are only trends, not guarantees that he'll do the same identical pattern daily. Luci sure doesn't as you can see from her SS..she likes to keep us guessing!

I spent so much time researching low carb, low phosphorus food for him to eat daily I never considered what to do about MC or HC!
And yes, Tigger also likes to keep us on our toes at all times

You can add Karo (corn syrup) or honey to Tig's food to raise the carbs. Many cats are lactose intolerant so whipped cream may not be a great idea. Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers is a good choice for high carb food. However, it may not agree with your kitty's IBD/CKD. Gabby was sensitive to gluten and I used Karo or honey routinely.

With SLGS, you can take a reduction.

When are you feeding Tigger? You may want to front load his food -- give several small meals over the first several hours of the cycle. This may help to buffer those early drops.

Thanks, I will buy some at the store today. Whipped cream is his favourite thing in the world and most of the time all he needs. I know its not great but its a rare "treat" even if it is being used medicinally lol.
He basically already eats like that. Obviously at shot time, then again about 1-2 hours later. Then we leave the rest for him to nibble until 2 hours before shot time. He may not be eating enough at those times though. He is a horrible eater, always has been, even when younger and completely "healthy." He must have eaten dry before we got him and we know he ate people food cause he lived in the ditch behind our apartment for possibly a year before we rescued him. Like I've said before, I've seen him legit eat a bean burrito. We've tried a lot of foods and now he is even more limited by his FD and CKD.
