9/11 Tucker is Green!

After mostly cruising yellow and blues Tucker got very quiet today. Just got a 2.7(47). Hc food in board.

Did you feed some higher carb food and test again in 20 minutes.?
With his track record, I would not let him drop any further.
He has earned a reduction in dose with that 48

I retested after 20 minutes and he had come up to 7.2. I had given him a large Tbsp of Friskies tuna

That's quite a jump Tucker!
I'd test again in one hour to see he is not dropping again.
We are expecting an international visitor at any moment - and Tucker is going to be very difficult to grab fur a test as he freaks out over strange men. I've just put a bowl of more food under the bed in case I can't test him. Great timing!

They certainly know how to get all the attention don't they.

I use the same monitor as you, George is in remission, he usually tests in the 60's, occaisionally I will get a reading in the 40's which is unusual for George, so I've rechecked and found that it was an iffy reading.
With the jump he had with the HC you gave him I do wonder if the reading you got in the forties was dodgy, I would recommend you double check those when you get them.

What's the carb % in that, that is quite a lot of HC late in the cycle, you may well find that a large amount of HC like that will stall the cycle when given in the latter half of the cycle, this may result in a high pmps. If you see a high pmps it may not necessarily be a bounce, be sure to get a +2/+3 tonight if it's a bounce you will see him stay high and flat if it's (BIPO) Big Insulin Poop Out, you will see him drop again at onset.

Oh Tucker!

Always gotta get all excited when someone is coming to visit?

I hope he'll settle down for you today :)

9/11 Fighting hypo all day after a dose reduction yesterday.... What is going on?!?Currently at 3.6 after an day in the green zone. See SS, I've been giving him Tbsp of high carb hourly.

With Tucker’s track record with low numbers... I would skip tonight’s insulin dose and give a another reduced dose down to 1.5 units from tomorrow morning. The depot may be too full.
This is typical Tucker behaviour when he wants less insulin. And we must listen to him. ;):D
Good catching the low numbers today Patty!

It looks like the depot of the 2u might still be in play, also did you reduce to 1.75 4cyclesbago then upped the dose to 2u 3cycles ago and then back down to 1.75? Or is that just a typo in SS?
Of you did, flip flop on the dose it can result in wonky numbers and may also be a reason you are fighting lower numbers today.

You say you were fighting a hypo? Was he symptomatic in any way? If he wasn't then it's not what we call a hypo, if he was symptomatic then that makes a difference.

In any case a drop in the 30's warrants a further reduction, you may wants to watch for a failed reduction, seeing as the depot of the 2u might still have been in play.

@Gill & George not sure if you are aware of what happened with @Tucker in July. I think you may have been away from the board..
After being in low numbers and thought to be ok, he suddenly dropped really low again, became unconscious, and we thought we'd lost him. A few days later they almost lost him again with an extremely bad case of pancreatitis. Since then he has needed more insulin and now he is again wanting to ask for reductions. Prior to both these events Tucker was dropping in dose and needing reduction frequently. I have found that if he doesn't get reductions when he drops low, even if he had a reduction the day before, he drops low again. He seems to be very sensitive to an overfull depot and with insulin when he is in low numbers. Does that make sense.?
Here is the link to the night he dropped really low and scared the pants off all of us!
I always err on the side of caution with this boy!

Thanks Bron.
He definitely needs a reduction with that 37, whether back to back or not. Which is what I said, so we both agree on that:)

I was just wondering whether he did infact hypo last night? Or if it was just battling the lows? (Scary I'm sure given the history)

I just think that it is important to make that distinction.

Certainly they can be more densitive to insulin after a symptomatic hypo. It might be an idea to include the symptomatic hypo in the signature? It's relevant info, just as we would include a dka episode.

I'm so glad tucker made it through, must've been traumatic for all of you especially his beans.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Guys. Thank you for the discussion, I'm listening. How do I put the hypo in his signature? Signature?

Go to your user name at the top right of the page. Click on it and there will be a drop down box. Choose signature. Then when finished save.
Where you have ‘no other medical issues’ I would take that out and mention the pancreatitis and symptomatic hypo event. If you run out of room you could abbreviate the ‘ prescribed a Lantus insulin pen’ back to just Lantus.
Glad to see he is rising again. He had a long green cycle today and dropped back lower twice after rising.

Thank you! He is the sweetest little guy, we desperately just want to keep him safe and happy - remission is no longer our goal.
I love the little stories I saw about his antics! Remission isn't as important as safety - you are so right. If it happens, that's good too:) please pet and kiss him for me. He's as cute as he is famous!!

Oh Patty, you know we love him too and are all 100% behind you as you work with this little guy to keep him safe!
I noticed that you have two links to the spreadsheet and thought that you could remove the longer link, leaving "Tucker's Spreadsheet" freeing up spaces in the signature for more info on Tucker?
Looks to me like both links are bringing up the same spreadsheet. ??
