PMPS 137 (much lower than usual) retest 134 after 30min. Advice please.

Here we are again with a lower than normal PMPS of 137 (pet meter). This number went down from her +9 BG of 200.

Previously we have done dose reductions when this has happened but have been urged that perhaps that wasn't always the best thing to do.

Looking for expert advice on how to proceed.

Stalling at the moment. Not feeding.
Insulin dose is due in 10min.

Nice PMPS for Butterscotch!

Are you going to be able to stay home and test tonight? Do you have honey/ Karl and Medium carb/ high carb food? If so, I would test again after a half hour . If he’s still coming up I think it would be safe to shoot. Just make sure to get a +1, +2, and then depending on the results of the +2 another test before bed if the +2 is a relatively slow drop or another test at +3 if it’s a more aggressive drop.

If you aren’t able to monitor you could give a reduced dose, or skip. That’s up to you :)

About to do the retest. If we chose a reduced dose, what would you suggest it should be?

That’s basically the same reading so you should do what you’re most comfortable with. You will have to learn to shoot lower numbers eventually but it has to be at a time that you’re comfortable with it :)

I would probably shoot it and test regularly tonight if it were me; but me in the early days of Mowgli’s diagnosis I would have done a reduced shot.

So maybe if you’re uncomfortable you could give a reduced dose or skip. If you are nervous to give 1.5 you could maybe do 1u for tonight.

It’s all what you’re comfortable with :)

ETA: note that if you give a reduced dose that the 7 day dose count for SLGS will reset to day 1 for your dose of 2u

Please note that we very inconveniently are switching to a human meter in the midst of this :banghead: perfect timing, I know.

The +9 from this morning's cycle and tonight's PMPS were done on both the PetTest and the Novamax (human meter) for comparison. Thankfully we have those couple of readings on both so we can continue watching the trend on the Novamax tonight. We have one more PetTest strip left so we'll test on both at the +2 tonight. After that it will be the Novamax only.

I'm just getting up here and will check in on you.

Looks like a nice cycle good job shooting.
Did you shoot about 1 hour late?
If so remember that the next shot needs to be 12 hours from when you actually shot. Can you also reflect the delayed shot on the SS,
so in the pmps something like
+12 137
+12.5 134
pmps @ +13 (did you test again?)

As he is still dropping at +5 I would get a +6 if he is flat or rising then you can call it a night, if he is dropping significantly you may want to keep on monitoring.

PM +8 was 172
AMPS today was still blue at 192

We shot a 2.S for last night and this morning as a safety measure because this morning we were both at work for almost 12hr.
PMPS tonight rose to 288 so we resumed her 2.F since she didn't technically earn a dose reduction.
I know I've been reminded not to do a 'sliding scale' but that is not the intent here. We were worried about her droping too low overnight and both had to work all day today. I'm open to suggestions on how others might have handled the situation if they would have done it differently.

Thank you for checking on us. We set an alarm to do a +8 last night and we were happy with it so we just slid back off to sleep.
We did shoot a little late yesterday so we will get back on track by 15min intervals earlier each time.
