Day 15 @ 2.875 Units Lantus

Yoyo was doing very well showing me lots of greens for a few days but during his PM Cycle he decided enough is enough and he went a Bouncing - bong-bong-bong:eek::eek:

He is no longer making those strange facial movements but I am continuing with the Slippery Elm Bark for a little more. Does anyone have any suggestions on how long I should continue the SEB or the dosage that they would use? Please share all opinions...thank you:)

Here's hoping that all Kitties have a wonderful day along with their Care Givers and of course all Kitties Must Surf Safely:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

These cats have their own agenda! Hope he settles down soon...and gets back to the beach/lagoon :)

Have a great day Debra!

I need to catch up on the goodness of SEB! Even our vet mentioned he's good with it FWIW.
I'm glad Yoyo's little movements have eased up.
Pretty boy is coming back down nicely:cat::cool:
We wish you and Yoyo a wonderful day:bighug:

All those greens for Yoyo; you're doing so good, boy!!:D:D
Wish I could help for SEB, a lot are using it and it seems to help! I'll be watching your post for info...

Nice slide for Yoyo today. Glad the SEB has helped. I don't think it's a problem if you keep giving it, but I'm not sure. Maybe put SEB? in your subject line.

Hi Debra. I give Bubba a maintenance dose of SEB twice a day in his food. It’s a quarter of a tsp of SEB mixed with 1/2 tsp of George’s Aloe Vera Juice ( make sure it’s George’s as it is distilled differently. ). That will make up into a ball and then I work it into his food twice a day.

I give it for GI health. Was it helping the facial movement issue?

Thank you for replying......Yes, the SEB has worked majic for his facial movements. The vet thought it was a dental issue and or possibly pancreatitis. The vet gave me cerenia which I never started and instead I started SEB which I told the vet I was doing. And within 1-2 days each time I start to use it he seems better. I really don't know the cause of his strange facial movements, just that they do stop.

So you are letting me know that it is ok to continue using it. I have been giving 2ml 2x day, a little more than a 1/4 tsp and less than 1/2 tsp. Do you recommend that I give Yoyo a 1/4 tsp 2x day?

The SEB has been working well for Yo. He doesn't like it cold, he makes the funniest faces like Uh oh and then he looks like he wants to spit it out. But then after he tastes it, which I think it tastes yukky, then he likes it and he keeps nibbling on the feeder that I use to give it to him. I think he likes the plastic feeder better than the SEB:joyful: If I was a good mama I would remember to take it out of the frig about a half hour before giving it to him - but I forget:(

I forgot to check, did you raise Tina's dose? I did check her numbers, and I think she looks sooo good with AT2 meter :D

I can picture Yoyo's face-making with your description!
I did not raise Tina's dose;) Thank you!

If it's helping, I would continue the maintenance dose. Bubba has had GI issues in the past like diarrhea for 3+ days and being off his feed. Since I have given him the everyday maintenance dose he has had a lot less issues with his pooping; it seems to help keep him moving and not have constipation and the most recent diarrhea episode I believe was due to him becoming allergic to chicken and pork.

If ever Yo get nauseous and won't eat, you can mix the SEB with the George's AVJ and make a ball and put it on the roof of his mouth 30 minutes before you want him to eat and it stops the nausea. Just be careful of your fingers, LOL I divide the little ball up in 1/2's whenever I have used that ball on the roof of the mouth method and I am more successful of him not just spitting the whole thing out.

ETA: Before I started using it daily, he had a lot more issues with IBS symptoms and would vacillate from constipation to diarrhea often. He is much much better. Anti jinx.

Neko got her SEB half and half with aloe vera juice and home made chicken broth. Yum, yum!

Interesting that the last yellow on Yoyo's SS was also 207. o_O

When you say that you make a ball, does that mean you mix the juice and SEB with canned food to create a ball?

No, I use a tiny little pyrex dish and put the 1/2 tsp of AVJ in it and add the 1/4 tsp of SEB and with a small spoon, I stir it all together. It will soon thicken up and then you can roll it into a ball ( it's a little sticky on the fingers ) Then I take up the ball between my fingers to place on the roof of his mouth. That ball method, I only do if he is off his feed and I think he nauseous. Otherwise, I use the same measurements and stir together and then add the ball to his food and work it all into his food and I do that twice a day.

Remember that SEB can interfere with absorption of some meds so do it about 2 hours before or after any meds that you would need to give.

I don't mean to keep asking you questions but...........
You write....1/4 tsp SEB, is this SEB that has been prepared with water and cooked on the stove or are you using a 1/4 tsp of dry SEB powder from the container and mixing this with the AVJ? ( When I give SEB it has been mixed with water and cooked on the stove until thickened, then I refrigerate it and measure out 2ml, it is like an orangy color).
I don't understand how SEB liquid with AVJ can thicken?

Yoyo does get thyroid medicine, so I always wait 6 hours before and 6 hours after giving SEB before I give him his med which he also gets 2x day.

Ask as many questions as you need to.

The 1/4 tsp of SEB is just the powder mixed with the AVJ. I see how you were confused since you are making it in advance to store in the refrigerator for a few days.

Forrest, GA used to get thyroid meds too. I separated the SEB from it by 3 hours. As long as it is at least 2.
