Good mornin L and L :bighug: Elmo is currently in his eating place chowing down all on his own !!! Great start to this Monday . Sending prayers and love to all in need❤️

Starting to run low on strips . Have strips ordered express so will be here tomorrow.....Will test every 3 hours today . What is a good back up meter I could easily purchase at WM ? Thank you in advance. FDMB is the BEST :bighug:

Come on down from the trees Elmo! Mowgli is eager to meet you but he’s at the beach so you’ll have to make your way over there!

Good luck with filling in the spaces in your sheet today Beth! Hope yas have a great day :)

Much better start today. Go Elmo!
Hope you got a good rest last night Beth.

I think the Relion Premier Blue is the cheapest offering at Walmart now. Not sure how the meter compares to the Confirm except that the blood sample needed is a bit larger.

Thanks, Linda :bighug: May go get one today just in case and do side by sides . Had strips from ADW but used them quickly. Cautionary tale : even when in remission have one container strips open and one extra layed back .

I'm glad Elmo is eating good for you. It looks like a bounce day today.
Carla , I am filling in the gaps of testing yesterday so will have a total current picture . Thank you for checking on us and for all your help :bighug: Don't know how u do this AND work outside ur home ...I am honestly amazed :bighug:

+5. 516. What's going on y'all ??? A bounce ? Currently not a fan :banghead:
I think you're right... bummer!! Bouncing can be so frustrating! but! at least ... if you wanted to... you could probs take a break from testing since (if it is a bounce) it isn't going to show Elmo's true reaction to insulin during this cycle.

It would be great to stop for next few hours so don't make his ears sore. I am a total novice at this " bouncing" stuff so really don't know what to do . Is there any general advice to follow when dealing with a bounce ??

Sit tight and wait it out. Nothing you can do to make it go away or to stop bounces from happening. They eventually ease off. Some cats are more bouncy than others. Bounces can take up to 6 cycles to totally clear. Don't hang on each number. Go with the flow, relax and take this time to do something nice for yourself. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

So stop testing until when ??? When should next test be taken ??? Thanks , y'all, for all the help :)

Do u stop testing when they are bouncing or test less ??? Now where did I put my patience pants :nailbiting:

Personally for me, I don't bother testing anymore that day until the next PS if Mowgli is in a bounce. My logic behind this is that when your cat enters a bounce they are not showing their true reaction to insulin, rather they are showing their bodies reaction to BG levels that are lower than they are used to. The next test I would grab is the PMPS and then a +2 or +3 (basically 1 test before bed preferably after Elmo's typical onset) if, from those numbers it seems like Elmo is still bouncing I would wait until AMPS for the next test... rinse repeat

This bounce is a good piece of info for you... you will start gaining info on how long ELmos bounces last! this is good info to have so that, with more data, you can start predicting when his bounces will break

Your old ones are probably moth eaten anyway. Put these new ones on and put your feet up for a couple of hours. Have a nap.

Millions of thanks, Amanda !!:bighug:

Are bounces hard on their body ? Make them feel ill ? He did just come in and have a few bites to eat on his own which is such an improvement . I've been syringe/hand feeding for last 10 ish days so him coming and eating calls for a party !! Thank you for ur words of wisdom !

Congrats on the appetite win! You really have to celebrate these things! awesome!!

I'm not really sure about how hard bounces are on them, I don't ever think that spending time in high numbers is easy on their little bodies, but bounces to me ARE a sign of healing, it means that Elmo spent a little time in a lower BG range than he was used to and now his body wants to go back to it's high BG ways... since that is what it became accustomed to, as he spends more and more time in lower numbers the bouncing should theoretically happen less and less as his body realizes lower BGs are the new norm!

Of course "theoretically" doesnt apply across the board... I was told early on that some cats bounce right to remission

I don't think it is as hard on them when they bounce as it is when they consistently stay in high numbers.

Here's another pair of patience pants for you.

The depot is also refilling from the skipped shot. That plus bounce means wobbly numbers. A comfy pair of patience pants will hold you through. A mid cycle test is still a good idea when bouncing, just in case he decides to clear the bounce. Plus you are st8ll learning how Elmo works the Lantus,
.

Carla, the little bit I've experienced this bouncing I must say he is feeling better than before I came back to the Board. We thought he was dying and so followed my good vets advise but came time this weekend when I knew I had one last thing I could do and that's come back FDMB home :bighug: Even tho bouncing he is once again eating on his own and no longer walk/lay, walk/lay. Yes, he is a grandpa man but he has greatly improved in last few days. Thank you , thank you for that ❤️

Wendy, exactly what do I look for to know he's bouncing ? Not sure I'm schooled enuf to identify a bounce .

Should I syringe feed before shot ...he's not going to eat on his own....or just give shot ?

I hope Elmo will keep the food down. I'd get a before going to bed test to see if he's coming back down and how fast. If you are able to in the morning, you may want to get a +10 or +11 test so you'll know if he's going up or down at AMPS.

Its a little tough to answer this question because ECID (every cat is different) What I look for when identifying a bounce is that Mowgli’s BG went lower than normal and then his numbers took off within the next cycle or two. A couple of good examples in my spreadsheet are July 17 and Aug 20.

Will do tomorrow morning , Carla ....thank you so much

+3.5. 520....little wobbly but still getting to LB ...lays with head up....beats this time last week when he layed flat and prone . Tomorrow is another day :cat:

Numbers wobble around during a bounce, but you usually see numbers going up, instead of down in the cycle or two after the event that might have caused the bounce. A bounce happens if either they see a number lower than they are used to, or they drop quickly.

After tomorrow night, you will have six cycles at this dose. The depot should be built and hopefully the bounce with go away.,what you do after that depends which of our dosing methods you would like to follow. Take a read of the dosing methods Sticky Note and see which suits your lifestyle and goals for Elmo.
