Good morning:)

I believe I need to change to TR. I want to see more numbers in the 80-120 range, and according to SLGS, I shouldn't change anything. I did increase to .62 or a fat .5 last night.

I'll be watching closely, and take a gentle scolding if I did wrong by increasing.

Tina is doing better every day. She surprises me by showing up in new places, and walking almost normally at times. Yesterday she joined me in the bedroom, and explored a while, then went up onto the bed. Her best buddy is loving on her and lying with her a lot more than when she wasn't feeling as well. He is trying to get her to play more.

I ordered an auto feeder yesterday!

Good wishes for a beautiful day -

I'm glad Tina is feeling better and moving around more. You test enough you should be able to do TR. You could also modify the reduction number for SLGS since you test so much. I do that with Furball. Her reduction number is below 60. Since you use the AT2 meter you'd have to use 68 as the lowest number, which is what you would do with TR. If you stay with SLGS, you could try a reduction number between 68 and 90. Just make a note in your signature line if you do that. I don't see in your signature line that you are following SLGS. You may want to add that or TR if you switch.

Thank you so much Carla -
Hope my signature line is good now!

Great that the neuropathy is improving from the methly B-12.

Looks like you're testing enough for TR :) I vote for TR :)

That mostly blue SS is looking very cool....very, very cool.:cool: Hope the nudge gets her into the lagoon:D Great news on the neuropathy! Isn't it grand when they start feeling better - and we even notice...yipeee!!:joyful::joyful:

Sue - I appreciate your vote, and I know you are right on. I've been a little uncomfortable allowing Tina to purposely go under 68 to get a reduction . . . that is my only hesitation about TR.
I keep wanting Tina to be her old self again, which may not happen, but each day I see something that gives me continued hope. Thank you:bighug:

You'll get used to seeing lower and lower numbers...you're still new at this...barely a month. Give it time....soon you'll be longing to see that lower number pop up on her meter - because it'll mean a reduction - this is kinda like walking a tightrope...when the numbers get lower...you'll want to see it go lower still...and then the magic starts to happen and they go down that dosing ladder until one day 'it' happens...no more insulin...that's what we're all here for after all...and Tina will start to feel just like her old self again since she won't be loaded up with runaway sugars...that's enough to make anyone feel terrible...if you know of any diabetics, when their sugar is too high, they don't usually feel very well...same with being too low - don't feel well then either - so find your fine line of happiness...it's out there somewhere :)

Like Carla, I also follow a modified SLGS... although if my schedule would allow it I would definitely go for TR, if you have the time to get the tests in why not go for it!

No matter what you choose you can always switch later if it doesn't work for ya!

Looking forward to seeing what you pick :D:D

Thank you for this explanation! It reiterates in my mind what I'm here for, and what our goal is.
Plus I have to remember how low "normal" cats go, and our current two cats on the OTJ trial - Bubba and Oscar see pretty low numbers.
I've been a T1 diabetic since I was 18. Forty years! I know well what both extremes feel like. The best feeling is right above hypo level. For me, a BG of 60 starts feeling like I need some glucose soon. When I see cats in the 4 and 500's, I know they feel lethargic and overall rotten. A well controlled cat wouldn't feel too great in the high 200s either. I know people aren't cats but . . .

Ok I'm ready!
Tina is exploring all over!

I have decided on TR, and have to admit, it makes me very happy. Thank you Carla, for easing my mind this morning, and letting me know I wasn't breaking any rules by going the route I was comfortable with. First I liked the idea of SLGS, with a reduction level of 80 (instead of 90), but then after reading Sue's input, I knew TR was for me.
Thanks for cheering me on Amanda - I am home-based, so can follow TR.
And thanks Joy for passing happiness and good thoughts along, even when things are rough for you. Now it's happy time for you - awesome job with Peggy Sue. Still more to go, but keep the faith.

Tina has been on Zobaline for over two weeks now, and she is improving every day, bits at a time, showing up in parts of the house she hasn't been going to. Today she walked up a step into the kitchen and drunk out of the dog's water bowl. That was a love of hers I also hadn't seen in a while! Adding Gabapentin has given another little boost in her movement, and is making her feel better. The Gourmed version with NO added cornstarch is on the way. And I have a new automatic feeder:)

Thanks to all on FDMB!
