Have a great day everyone

Abby didn’t eat her dinner last night and I slept with her on couch, she didn’t move all night, she did puke last nite and I gave her Cerenia and mirtz, she wouldn’t eat again this am tried several foods and even baby food, gave 100ml sub q fluids, she’s is just laying here, she did drink some water, I didn’t give her her thyroid pill last nite, wondering if I should give this am?? I don’t know what else to do, any ideas would be appreciated cause she can’t take any weight loss, she only weighs 6lbs now, and has since hyper t

I'm so sorry Abby is not feeling well. I hope she will feel better as the day goes on and eat for you. Below is the list of suggestions for when a cat won't eat. Maybe you can find something that will work. Sending prayers.

Do you have any parmesan cheese? If you maybe sprinkle a little of that on her food, she will perhaps eat? usually ondansetron is better for nausea than cerenia but it doesn't hurt to give her the cerenia....it can help.

Can you finger feed her....either see if she will lick food off your finger or will she let you dab some on the front of her tongue or on the roof of her mouth? Just be careful that it's only a small amount and that you don't get it down her throat.

Here's some info Jill often posts when a kitty won't eat:Here are some things you can do do entice your cat to eat:

-sometimes in order to get a cat to eat you even have to resort to dry it is more important that they eat. there are a couple low carb / grain free brands -- EVO and wellness core.

-making a buffet to give him choices
- heating food

sprinkle food with :
- forta flora -- a probiotic you can get at vets or online. is very smelly and cats love the taste of it.
- parm. cheese
- smashed crumbles of dry food
- Purebites Duck Liver -- crushed and put on as a topper.
- bonito tuna flakes
- halo chicken treats -- crumble into dust over food
- poor a little water from tuna in water over food ( I use low sodium/no sodium added as other kinds in water has veg. broth in it and I assume that means onions, which are toxic to cats-- check labels)
-powdered oregano. yep sounds weird . but some cats like it and it will entice them to eat.

other ideas of foods to offer your kitty to stim appy:
- trader joe tuna for cats
-baby food -- beechnut turkey and broth or chicken and broth. they have no onions or other additives. some babyfoods have onions . please read labels if you can't find beechnut.
- kentucky fried chicken
- deli turkey /chicken
- plain cooked ( boiled or baked ) chicken breast
-canned chicken for people (watch the label that their are no onions)
- chicken broth -- low sodium

Thanks Carla for all the info, I’m going to store when it opens and pick up a few things to try

I'm so sorry to hear that Abby isn't eating...hope it's just a thyroid thing. Maybe when her tummy settles down she'll be able to have her meds. Hope you find something that will help her feel a little better. If you still have your SEB, you might see if she'll have a few licks of that - supposed to help with the nausea/upset tummy.

Hope things work out and you have a better day :) Sending feel better vines and prayers your way!

Thanks Sue, I did get her to eat a tad of ff tuna, I put a lot of water in it and she about half, she is sleeping, going to try and give thyroid pill about 9, I don’t want her puking so I’m letting food settle first

Sorry to learn that Abby isn't feeling well.
When has she had her last thyroid test?
In the past Yoyo has been sick from his thyroid medicine, Felimazole. Are you sure her medication isn't making her sick? (I don't remember if Abby is Hypo or Hper thyroid).

I went and got some fancy feast broths and she ate a tiny bit of that, I got purebites duck liver and she snubbed her nose, got more temptations it’s better than nothing at all

I have VitalCat duck liver that is a huge hit; crumbles so well.
I picked up PureBites shrimp, and it's not a hit with 50% of my testers (I am owned by a dog and six kitties)
Main point you made, is that eating something beats Not eating.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

About 6 months, she’s hyper and only has her right thyroid and she is on 5mg felimazole 2x a day
I didn’t give it to her last night but gave it around 9 this am

I know how you feel! All 3 of my cats are not eating this morning. I gave them SEB mixed in water in a feeding syringe. They'll also get a few drops of CBD Oil a little later. Really upsetting when they won't eat!

The vet did very extensive check on Abby, even checked her eyes, tested t4 and they were low, they had me change her thyroid med dose to 5mg 1x a day and give mirtz 1x a day for 2 days, Cerenia as needed and fluids as needed

ugh, on the no eating. That always unglues me for our kitties.

Glad you had her seen. Did the vet think that the change in her thyroid meds would take her off her feed?
He said it could cause it makes them lethargic, I’m hoping the mirtz kicks in soon, I didn’t give enough this am (it was bellas) so I will give the right dose in the am or do you think I could go ahead and give her some more now, I gave it very early this am

I don't know how to guide on the mirtz. I have only used it once and as directed. Maybe put up a ? mark with mirtz help.

I hope she continues to eat for you...How old is she?

She hasn’t eaten but very little this am, nothing since, mirtz doesn’t seem to be working, I made her scrambled egg which she loves and nothing, she’s approx 14 or 15

Try the different toppers that Carla posted. I have had great results with the oregano sprinkled the food when all else fails. First go to is flortiflota , then baby food if that doesn’t work I try oregano. Bingo! I think it’s because it smells similar to catnip.

I did syringe some chicken baby food, the small syringes 3 of them, waited 30 min gave 3 more, waiting till 10 to give her some more, so far she hasn’t got sick, I will try and find flortiflota tomorrow and get some oregano, the baby food is organic chicken and it’s runny enough to go through a syringe so she’s getting fluids too, thanks Bobbie

Have you tried ondansetron instead of Cerenia? They target different nausea receptors so one could be better than the other, or the cat could need both.

A couple posts from the Health Links forum, how to stimulate appy http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/suggestions-on-how-to-stimulate-kittys-appetite.130770/ That might be what is in Carla’s list, or the formula for the liver shake which seems to work for a lot of cats http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/the-liver-shake-for-sick-cats.30432/

Appy vines for Abby :bighug::bighug:
