Hi dear members,

Mačka bounced yesterday for 2 cycles, but it looks like he's having an active cycle during the day today!
At +4 he's already at 253, which is amazing, but today I have to go to work at noon!
I am thinking of taking a +6, but then what? My sister in law is staying at home this afternoon to look after him, but she is not familiar with any of this. I am going to brief her when she arrives.

I'm worried he might go low, and I won't be around! Should I ask her to feed him every hour or so?

253 at +4 is a pretty safe number to go to work for! as long as she is looking after him she will notice if he seems sick. Maybe send her the link to the HYPO instructions just in case, but honestly... i think Macka will be fine :)\

I have a couple meetings so i cant stick around... but really... I think its ok for you to go to work! remember... an emergency is under 50!! Macka isnt close :) :bighug:

I agree with Amanda, and I am very paranoid about hypos :). From your spreadsheet it doesn’t look like Macka takes any big dives after +4, so I think you’re safe. You can always leave out some low carb food. If he just had a snack after a few hours, that would probably keep him from falling much further.

Also, I still think it's ok for you to go to work, but i made a pretty big mistake in my previous post... when you're using an alpha track numbers below 68 are actually the take action number

Sorry :oops::oops:

Still. I dont think there is any concerrn about you going to work :)

I agree...go to work...leave a little food down in case Macka needs it but it's the last half of the cycle so he should be just fine.

If he starts to act like he's really starving to death or shows any signs of going too low, your sister in law can always feed him a little higher carb food but I don't think he'll need it

Any chance you can teach her to test sometime?

I showed her how to do it but she didn't do it herself. However she is a professional cat sitter so she's not impressed, that's good :)
Lately, Macka has had his nadirs at +8. I know I worry too much... I should be happy he is finally in the blues during the day! I just wish it would happen on the days I am at home!

I see Macka has had a bouncy start like Oscar! It sounds like your SIL is a good back-up for you. My bf has learned and started testing Oscar for me, it's nice because hes still home for another week on summer break, but I know after that I'm going to be extra nervous about daytime numbers. Keep it up, you're doing great!!

Yes! she can only help once a week though... But after that I'll be working from home (and basically never leave the house again). Trapped forever!

Macka bounces everyday, I so hope he's going to get used to nicer numbers at some point!!

I understand your stress once you are both back to work! It would be great if Oscar was a little more controlled by then. At that point, you may want to follow the SLGS if you won't be able to test at all during the day. Please be strong, let's all be strong and keep hope it's going to be alright. It's just because it's the beginning.

I am upset, angry, despaired. My husband is not doing well because of all the stress that is happening in this house. He tried to take his BG but Macka fought him. I had t leave work earlier to be bale to take it, and then give the shot. He is not very hungry and also down because he is so high.
How much more can we endure these ups and down and all this stress? Our lives are so disrupted right now :'(

He must have gone in the dark greens today, or worse.
I doubt it. So far this dose has only taken him into the mid blues and Macka still isn't used to blues. Plus he did a big drop from AMPS to +4. Often the bounces caused by big drops are worse than those by lower numbers than he's used to. Getting used to lower numbers is a slow process. As I mentioned before, it took Neko 1.5 years before she stopped having reds in her spreadsheet.

I am glad the ketones are still negative. That's good. The rest really is up to Macka. In the mean time, use the bounce to do something for you. Go out for dinner, go see a movie, or even just go for a walk with your husband. Macka will be fine. You really do have to do things out side of feline diabetes or it will become overwhelming.:bighug:

Getting Macka used to normal numbers is the only way to slow the bouncing. You may or may not have some initial high numbers, but an increase in insulin dose can also take the edge of the height of any bounce. Remember patience.

Thank you, yes, that's not exactly my life right now, I'm overwhelmed and obsessed, and scared, people worry about me. I have so much anxiety that I am considering medication to deal with all the stress and mental pain :/ I don't know how to be normal and happy right now, when my baby is so sick.

So are you saying that i should keep the same dose longer?

Macka just peed on my husband's bag, he has almost never done that before (only once, when he was jealous of a new boyfriend, 13 years ago). What could this mean? Is it a trait of diabetes?

No, high blues are not yet normal. If you don't see anything below 150 tomorrow, you can increase to 1.75 units.

Peeing on the bag might just be Macka telling you he isn't feeling good in high numbers. Think of it as Macka's message to your DH to not leave things on the floor.
