Good Morning everyone,

We had some wicked storm pass through here late yesterday afternoon/evening - and it was ferocious! Minor damage in our yard - knocked an aluminum ladder into the pool (DH was using it earlier to hang a plant out there)...our trellis with a huge SilverLace Vine growing on it is now crushing the tomato plants - some of them look a bit mangled as well - haven't been out there yet to inspect the damage up close - just hope it was a matter of them being blown down and not broken - they were finally getting big enough to have tomatoes on them - this will require more staking and more tying if there's anything left to pick up...

72,000 customers are out of power this morning....

And we've slept to the melodious sound of our Generac generator - so thankful that we installed that several years ago - we live in a rural area where the grid was so unreliable - it seemed as if the power went out with every strong breeze! I insisted when our old generator finally wore out that we upgrade to the 'instant-on' kind...and there we were sitting in the dark last night - counting down the seconds - until that sweet sound of that engine firing up - lights, A/C and TV all back to life! It's supposed to be a toasty 90+ here again today - I'm so thankful for the generator! Modern technology is a wonderful thing! Predictions are that the power will be restored by 11:30 tonight... no worries :)

And for Luci - she's just not realizing that she just got a dose increase! And if she doesn't come around soon she'll be getting another one - maybe??? Let's see what she's got in mind today.

Happy Saturday everyone! Take care and stay cool - or if you're down under - stay warm :)

Special prayers for @JoyBee&Ravan and @Bellasmom - dealing with health issues today...it's tough. Our thoughts are with you both!

I hope the increase brings Luci lower numbers:D:D:cool::cool:

Sorry to hear about the terrible storm that you had. I hope the tomatoe plants made it; there is nothing like a home fresh grown tomato. I can still taste the good old Jersey tomatoes.

I always wonder about getting a generator. You are so fortunate to have one. With the hurricanes down here I have been without electric for over 2 weeks and that is not fun at all.

Hope your electric gets restored soon, but at least you are comfortable now. How long does the generator last? Or do you just have to add gas to it?

It's built in and has it's own natural gas line - so it runs 24/7 if we need for it to. I wonder why people in high-risk areas (like Florida) don't all have them - as part of the house. I will never live in a house without one again - it's one of my minimum requirements - like some people need 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, a garage, etc. etc. I need that PLUS a 'whole house' generator...too many things happen to the power...too often...and it's very uncomfortable and can get expensive if you end up tossing all of your frozen/refrigerated items out...that's a real bummer and I've had to do that - made me sick! All that $$$ out to the trash :( :( :( Never again I say!!! Never again (I hope)!

I agree, I was just telling my sister about your generator and I was saying that homes should be built with them. Once you have one, I can't imagine you not having one. And the natural gas line is another PLUS, you won't run out of gas!
I'm glad your safe and comfortable. I bet your are the envy of your neighbors:)

I don't understand why they aren't being put in with new builds. At that point cost would be minimum. We have the old portable kind but it works great and I am thankful to have it.

Glad no major damage.

Oh Luci?... there is a dose increase on the table. Better work that juice.

Actually, I can hear their generators running all over the neighborhood. One of my neighbors two doors down has had theirs longer than we have - they were the 'example' to many of the rest of us - get that generator and get it soon! No more portable generators for this gal! We had one of those when we first moved in out here in the country - and we actually wore the thing out! DH wanted to go buy another one - and I said how much is 'another one' - he said around $1000 or $1200... that's when I said, NO WAY are you spending that much on another one of those - where you have to drag it out (in bad weather now mind you)...set the thing up, fill it with gas, check the oil, run the cords to the power boxes, etc. etc. It was hours before he could get home from work and get the thing out and connected - while I sat in the dark or ran around the house trying to be helpful - bring me this, bring me that - sometimes when it was freezing cold out there - other times in the rain with the mosquitoes eating us alive! I said we ARE spending the money on a whole house generator - don't bother with another portable one...he agreed - bless his heart - and the rest is history...Best thing we've ever done (well, right after getting a new furnace and air conditioning system installed)...but it's been a terrific investment - you'll never regret having one!

We don't have natural gas in this part of the subdivision. They do in the front but not this far back. Ours would have to be propane and that requires a tank. Per our HOA the tank would need to be buried. So not sure it would be worth it cost wise.

Ah yes, the HOA - gotta love 'em - so many rules and regs... it would be a major undertaking that's for sure. I'd only do it if your power goes out very often...my son was telling me today that his power NEVER goes out - but then he lives very close to town - so maybe that's why - it's a newer area - so most likely they have all underground cables - not like our overhead lines on poles - old fashioned stuff that needs to be replaced (like 20 years ago it needed to be replaced!!!)
