Alice 7/10 AMPS 229, late shot, civvie vet appt & vaccine?

Got sleep last night. Crashed really hard. Alice surfed through. Didn’t catch any good greens but then once in awhile mom says it’s okay to take a break from good behavior, so mom has a break herself. :p

AMPS is a frustrating 45 minutes late. Human and I are going to discuss all schedules where I am required to do help and be present so we can coordinate better.
But it was 229, shot 2u, I got back home from driving and she was happy and purry and hungry and out of her room again! I got worried and went and checked all possible food sources.

I just realized the past week is a blur, and her thirteenth birthday is in two days. After everything we have been through and losing her brother too soon.... it’s a big deal to me that she will be my teenager. But I’m too worn out to really celebrate or enjoy it for what it is, besides the knowledge that I’ve managed to keep her alive.....



Also civvie Jakey has his vet appointment today. They said he was due for his FVCRP (May have mixed those letters up) or something..... but with everyone having an ongoing upper respiratory virus, I was browsing the other day and came across a long thread I did not get to finish about vaccines. Then started trying to read about how it could affect cats with things like calicivirus, etc....... I’ve just been told my cats have “feline herpes”.... but Jakey and Majyk are the two with the most severe symptoms. (I’m suspecting now that Alice probably does have it and is showing extremely mild symptoms, but I remembered the single kitten in the litter before her had an illness, her mother probably had it, we live in the same neighborhood where she was born, a block over....) Anyway I think I may cancel his appointment until I can decide if it is in Jakey’s best interests or not to get the vaccine again. I also need to figure out info about his allergy situation before I go in blindly to the vet without the right questions to ask..... oh and I need to do some research on what makes cats so food-motivated. Alice was so sick for so many months that his weird, not-immediately-life-threatening issues got put on the back burner a little. :(

I’m tired and I am rambling.

Yeah I canceled his appointment. Even trying to call I got the sense it was a hectic day already for them so o don’t think it will ruin them either. Alice and I are bonding with bed hangout time and my body is just deeply tired and dragging today so I think we will definitely be having a rest day. I forget sometimes I don’t have as many “spoons” as I think I do. (“Spoon Theory”)

She is definitely ready to move out of the kitty hospital, and so if anyone has some spare time to hash out the kindest, fairest way to reshuffle all the cats’ spaces in 1,000 sq ft and the rooms and resources and relationships of all the cats..... I could use a chance to explain it and ramble and get feedback. :p


I’m so grateful that she can nap beside me in bed again. It’s not like it was before last year.... but maybe it will get there again.
She just startled to a noise outside then made this squeaky sigh as she settled back into her nap.
I love Alice.

Yeah I came across a revived vaccination post on here which is why I am rethinking what to do. Jakey also has allergies but besides to fleas and Seresto as a flea treatment I don’t know what else. We tried to pill him with Benadryl and it was SO hard. Other human got it to work maybe once. Alice is the only one I can manage to give pills to so far. He licks off half his fur. And ever since he was neutered he has been extremely food motivated and is overweight and I always thought he would be the one to end up diabetic! I don’t even know what to ask my vet to do for him, besides check his hot spot from the collar, etc. There must be a reason he thinks he is generally starving. He also always had some poop issues—poor fecal formation. His behind is always kind of dirty and I don’t know if I should be wiping him but he sure doesn’t want me to try. So many little problems that have taken a backseat that he doesn’t deserve to be in just because we are broke and Alice is sick.

@JoyBee&Ravan I would love to see your Alice! :) of all my animals right now, she is the only one I named myself (her brother is GA)... Jakey was Jake and TomTom (bunny) was Thomas... but that’s not the same.
 
Also! I have two supply closet posts. Cheap Bayer contour strips and some meter things and treats and such (I can get my freestyle strips super cheap with help from a friend so I don’t want profit, just different strips, and I will donate to a new/low-income kitty parent too as long as I have what Alice needs as well!), and someone from a cat group of mine who wanted to find a (free) home for the felimazole (thyroid med) their kitty left behind went they went away.....
 
PMPS 323..... moved up 20 minutes to 9:55. Yay.

Not sure why she is running so high unless she found a kibble or this new pen is not as helpful. :( will see how tonight ends up.

We had some good time together resting today then there were family issues to attend to out of the house. She is very tired of the hospital, quite suddenly fed up with it, and I have to clean everything first to be sure there is no loose kibble under the bed.... (other cat used to have a bowl near bed) and other cat has the bedroom as territory at night. Cat social dynamics are hard. :p

Nikki I will have to go dig for your reply to other day later, but thank you so much for letting me know, I’m not sure how I missed it! :)

Evening routine, plus two, nap...... rinse, repeat!


But she was beautiful snoozing today. :D
