Alice 7/8 AMPS 177 +6 37 / PMPS 152, reduction, cuteness

Oh +3 was 78.... 100 point drop in three hours, but she needed another snack. I am out of her regular friskies again because she eats so much.... gotta pick up food for everyone. I’m hitting my weird random backup cans now. Someone gave me some wellness and I think she can eat the chicken pate until I make it to the store.....

Have you tested again? I have the feeling Alice is going to be keeping you on your toes for a while. I do think that her surgery changed something in her FD. Her insulin needs have definitely been decreasing since then.

Surf safely, Alice.

Hi Cassandra! I would test her again 30 minutes after you give her her snack to make sure she can surf and not continue to drop too much since it’s not even 1/2 way into her cycle yet.
I did not see your message until I after I had had to leave.

+6 was 37! Clinical signs were perfectly normal again, at least..... So I just dumped half a can or so of HC into her bowl. I’m supposed to go do some work now.

She is up to 82 now. Feeding more, leaving more out, she got the HC gravy and meat both and it was actually more than half a can of FF and have her some more wellness pate too. I have to leave and earn cat food money for like.... an hour. And get cat food at all.

I was not very comfortable with the 2.5, so I think I am going to reduce whether this shark swim warrants it too or not. She is very rapidly shedding her insulin dose.

For future reference, we suggest you try not to give a huge serving of HC at once. Reason is that she may get full, and if she drops again a little later, she won't want to eat. A tablespoon or two at a time should be enough. Since you are leaving, good move to leave her some food.

You mean the current dose of 2.5, or are you referring to a few days before when it was 3.5? Given that she has dropped into the 30s again, I would recommend another reduction starting tonight (assuming she is high enough to shoot) to 2.25. It looks like Alice is on a mission.

I know it's not protocol, but with a greatly reduced yesterday AM, and a possible fur shot a couple nights ago, the depot is no where near 2.5 units. But you still got a 37! I'd take her down to 2.0 units.
I would be inclined to agree with this and honestly I kind of wanted to start back right about there anyway, but it’s not the standard protocol. But her FD is obviously tied in to underlying issues!

I agree. My suggestion was only for Alice and you. I have been there when secondary issues causing insulin have changed. It's a bit like riding down a roller coaster. Safety first!
I understood it fully as this is Alice-specific. She doesn’t fit the standard diabetic cat profile anyway. She was always perfectly weight-regulated. General checkups, healthy. I think I just should have spayed her.... why I didn’t before, this isn’t the space for that story, and no regrets—only learning. As long as her cancer is remitting, and also because she is on a depot insulin instead of the NPH failure, she actually has a much fairer chance at ending up on a much lower dose eventually.... I think, anyway.

She is definitely dragging me on a roller coaster, with my cartoon body flapping in the wind, clutched onto by the neck..... she can go all the OTJ she wants to try towards, but she could ease up a little. :p

Her weight-restoration is another thing I was considering as a factor.... the depot is in fat. She at one point had no fat. It’s a change! Shrug.

PMPS was 152
+2 was 190
Dose was 2u
Shot was 30 minutes late. Last minute dog sitting help catastrophe.
She has had a lot of food. I have some restock on her friskies chicken and liver for a few days and it is better when I have some of her primary food.

I don’t think the gravy was bad today because I knew I couldn’t monitor as well. I also know her tummy.... she has taught it to handle quite a bit, and she voraciously wanted every bit of the gravy FF!! And would have wolfed down the whole can and not puked like most cats do when they eat too quickly..... I think it’s just because she was starving inside when she was unregulated.

But of course she is beautiful and alert and happy right now! :joyful:

Little cutie pie. Cassandra she is looking fabulous.

I'm glad Wendy suggested the 2.0. I really feel like Alice is planning more shenanigans, and the less ammunition she has, the better. Keep it safe, please, Alice.
Exactly my thoughts! She’s running a little high and she would feel better in those happy greens and blues more than some of these yellows..... but I think she is about to get all.... pancreatic.... on me. :joyful:

PMPS was blue and +2 yellow, maybe she got into something in the house, maybe a FS and my partner didn’t notice? We are both tired. I hope this is her break to me because I am about to collapse! Will try for +7.... if I can’t sleep then will test sooner. Leaving LC for her with water. She’s been feisty today!
