I think I would be tempted to increase tomorrow. Just sayin’ Bear. ;)

You might want to think about manipulating his curve with food, to prevent those steep drops and dives to green, that aren’t sustained. Have you read Jill’s post on manipulating the curve? Especially the suggestions on feeding with Levemir kitties at the end of the post. I think Bear needs more insulin, but you need to be able to do it safely.

When I read your post earlier I thought fat chance Bear gets to green with a PMPS 319BG, so we increase tomorrow.
Then I fell asleep about 9PM watching Netflix (had to be really tired), then woke up at 10:50 thinking I have got to feed & test Bear he is overdue his meal.
Surprise! He has 84BG.

Bear lost his Nadir four days ago, if you find it please let me know.

Neko’s Levemir nadir was anywhere for +5 to +15, but her onset stayed pretty constant.

Well isn't he being a little putz. Come on Bear......the least you could do is pull these stunts during the day instead of the middle of the night.:woot:

I haven't been able to pin down his onset, close as I can get is between +4, +5, or +6.
I think his body is in flux and hasn't become regulated to Levemir yet.

+4.5 (84) 1oz, 5% LC
+5 (55) 0.5oz, 5% LC
+5.5 (42) 30 units Honey

Bear has become very difficult when it comes to eating anything other than his LC food.
I haven't been able to find pates in MC or HC.
He turns his nose up if his food isn't pate or LC.
He doesn't even lick the gravy of MC or HC.
I have even used the food processor to make MC & HC into a pate, nope he won't touch it even with parmesan or chicken crumbles on top.

Darn, looks like feeding wasn't quite right to prevent the dive. Onset was well before +4.5 today.

Can you get First Mate there? They are pate’s that are both HC and MC. Side note, their HQ is a one minute walk from our boathouse. They do use organic foods, unfortunately too much potato to make it LC. There must be others.

I will do some more hunting and look for those.
I cut wheat out of his diet a long time ago per your recommendation but it sounds like your suggestions today are no wheat also?

Yes, First Mate is grain free. But higher %HC than I needed. I used Weruva HC cause it used potatoes, but it is chunks or shreds. I originally used Merrick Cowboy Cookout, also potato, but they changed the formula to be phosphorus unfriendly. :( Seem to remember it was also not pate.

+6 (45) 30 units Honey

Thank you God this isn't a low event with a pancreatitis Flare and vomiting.
Bear has taught me by experience what is a positive, lol.

Bear seems to be a cat that needs very high carb content a lot of the time to move his BG.
The first round of honey didn't do much. :banghead:

Okay Bear you have been surfing for an hour & a half in the wrong green color. :stop:
Time for your BG to come up.

Bear's demeanor is good, he is not uptight until he sees the syringe with honey.
He is watching my every move bright eyed and relaxed.
He is climbing in my lap for each testing and enjoying his after test chicken treats.

So that ticked Bear off (two syringes of honey)

+7 (43) 60 units Honey

Between Bear being mad plus doubling up on the honey maybe he will come out of lime green now.

Wow what a ride Bear has you on! That dive!
Yep it bites, Bear is known to be a diver with hardly any carb sensitivity.
The absolutely scariest dives are when he has a flare during a dive with continual vomiting. That has been truly horrible low events.
I just fed him his normal meal after the honey so there is a very high probability his BG will finally move.
Paws crossed.
