No pickle last night. A little disappointed as she hit lines on this PS few days ago. I will be picking up her bupre before work.

Out early and watered the real pickles, tomatoes and garlic. Will spray them for bugs when I get home late this afternoon.

Have a good day everyone.

With all the rain my garden is full of weeds! How do you keep the weeds & grass out? And what do you use for bugs ?
I'm so very tired of digging & pulling up weeds!:arghh: I feel like I spend every summer trying to keep the weeds out!

Here's for Olive . Maybe it's will bring on the urge for a pickle :D upload_2019-6-28_10-29-20.png

Of all times. Gave her nice size snack of 16% carbs. Feeder set for +6.5 & +8. Hubby will give small bits each time he goes in house

She surfed her pickle. You both won!!!!

I know they have the libre monitor. Wouldn't it be great to have something like it that you can attach once in awhile like today when she has a green but you can't be home to monitor the rest of the day. Maybe in the future they will.

I use Sevin and mix in an empty spray bottle. In the past I got a bale of straw and put down a thick layer for weed control.

This year I got a lot of wood chips free and am using that.

Don't the weeds just come up thru the wood chips?

Some will but if it's thick enough it's very little. And you have to make sure it cover entire area. The straw works really well. But if it has a lot of seed straw it will sprout and grow. That's tough to pull. It happen last year to me. First time in 5 yrs using it.

To late now but if you cover entire garden bed with 2 layers of newspaper, then poke hole to place seedlings (not seeds) then cover with the straw or chips, you will be pretty much weed free. With all the rain we had I didn't have time to put paper down.

2 years ago I put down 10 layers of Newspaper & 50 bags of composted worm casing & peat moss on top. I did it early ,end of March. By the end of July weeds were coming up all over! The next year it was just the same as always. Weeds & more weeds.
It was an enormous lot of work, cost too much money & a total waste of time! I think next year I'll just cover the ground with a roll of weed barrier ,& not plant anything! Since I'm alone now I only plant a few tomatoes & cucumbers. It's just too much work now.

The front of my Garden is nearly all perennial flowers. There's still weeds to pull but at least it's a lot less between all the perennials!
