Anyone use Ketone meter to test?

My sweet boy mango is an inside/outside cat and is not using the litter pan anymore. Instead of staying he is back to his normal behavior of going out and about. Have not been able to do a pee test on him. Wondered if anyone has use one of the ketone meter to test for ketones? I am about to purchase one as Mango has had ketones in the past and it worries me not to know.
