Tribute To Forrest

Bobbie And Bubba

Member Since 2015
You came to us on October 20, 2008 after my friend Karen trapped you on her farm. She had been feeding you for months. She gave you the medical attention you needed as you had been in a fight and was pretty cut up and very malnutrition and under -weight. She knew we had just lost our Siamese cat, Sug, 3 months prior and our hearts were still healing, but at her insistence with her “Cat Return Policy ” if you didn’t work out, talked us in to bringing you into our household.

It’s the best thing I ever did. You completed our family.

You were a love from the minute you arrived and you and Bubba were fast friends within 3 days. Lucy took some time to come around; she liked to bark at you and chase you down the hall. We would all call out, “Run, Forrest, Run!” In no time you had won her over too with snuggles and spit- shines; the fur gang were all cleaner after you arrived as you became the resident bather.

I have never met a cat so brave. You weren’t afraid of anything or anyone. You stood up to the large yellow lab next door that sent Bubba hiding. You greeted everyone at the door which gave you the nickname of “The Walmart Greeter”. Whenever you were in pain with your many medical issues you were so stoic. You tried to teach Bubba to “fly under the radar” as you had learned being a stray and not to be a whiner. Whenever he would cry, you would pounce on him and bite his scruff as a mother cat would do to teach her kitten.

You tried hard to keep up with Bubba. The vision of you trailing after him as he would go hunt will be imprinted in my memory for a very long time. Whenever I would go looking for Bubba to test him, you would leave the kitchen door stoop and walk along with me. You were never too far away from the house almost as if you never wanted to be lost again.

The volume of your purrs was second to none. Nighttime is quiet without you loudly purring in my ear. We miss seeing you in all your favorite spots and I keep expecting you to pop up out of the hostas when I pull into our driveway.

Our hearts are broken yet full of the love we shared with you. Forever with us, Dear Forrest. Until we meet again.

What a lovely tribute, it truly shows how much love there was in your family for Forrest. I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope your fond memories of Forrest will lead to healing.

Take care :bighug: :bighug:

What a beautiful tribute to your very handsome and obviously very happy and adored furry little man. I'm so sorry it was his time. Sending :bighug::bighug::bighug: for you Bobbie and scritches for all of Forrest's furry siblings.

My heart is aching for You & for all those who have lost much loved Kitties. And for all of us that will go thru this loss eventually.

Oh Bobbie what a beautiful tribute to Forrest, you made me cry. So glad you took Forrest in and gave him the best life ever and I'm sure he knew that he was loved so very much. Forrest was a brave boy indeed. He as a handsome boy. Again I'm so sorry and my heart goes out to you

What a beautiful tribute to your much-loved Forrest. As I had tears running down my face, I also smiled at your nickname of Walmart Greeter for Forrest; we called our civvie, Allen, our Walmart Greeter.
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Our first diabetic, Brady, looked just like Forrest, had an Elvis lip snarl just like him (was Forrest missing his upper right canine tooth as well?), he was also our Designated Team Bather, and the weirdest part is that we called him our Walmart Greeter too! I always joked that Brady just needed a little blue vest for his Halloween costume and he'd be set. I'd never heard anyone else use that nickname for their cat before. Maybe it is partly a DLH orange boy thing.

I know you are still hurting, but your video and Forrest's story made me smile. How lucky you all were to have each other.

RIP sweet boy. May you and Brady welcome all the kitties into Heaven when they have to leave us :bighug:

What a wonderful tribute. Sometimes the most indelible memories and life-altering effects are the result of a simple, seemingly small decision. I'm guessing you would now thank your friend for hoisting off on you an unwanted stray who showed up at her barn.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thanks so much to everyone with all your love and support. It means so much to be able to share Forrest and grieve his loss with people who really get just how important our furbabies are to us.

@Sandi & Whisper , yes, Forrest was missing his upper right canine too and his lip would get caught up. When we got him and I took him to my vet for the first time , the vet noticed that his right upper canine was snapped in half length wise. He said that he must have been in a fight which I confirmed how beat up he was when my friend found him. The vet said that he had to fight really hard to get away from what ever was at him to break off a tooth. We also called him Elvis when the lip got hung up and I would say, "something's matter with your lip" in my best Elvis voice and pull his lip down. He had a l lot of nicknames and I could have gone on and on writing about him but didn't want to put out a tome on the forum.

What a lot of similarities with Brady and Forrest! I hope Brady and Forrest have teamed up and doing their Elvis impersonations on the other side.

Wonderful tribute to sweet Forrest. He was obviously very loved, not only by you, but by Bubba and Lucy too. He was a lucky kitty to land in such a great home. :bighug::bighug::bighug: to all of you.

What a lovely tribute for a beautiful boy. I couldn't get through both without crying. I've heard so much about Forrest, but gosh he seemed like such an amazing kitty. There really is something about rescues, don't you think? Both of my boys were rescues, and you could tell they appreciated me, their home, and the love (and food) they received. You gave Forrest a wonderful life (I had to smile at your friends cat return policy), and it is obvious to everyone how much you all loved him. I hope you will soon find peace when looking at his pictures and thinking of him. Still sending you and your family plenty of hugs and vines of love, comfort, and peace.

Thank you for sharing him with us Bobbie. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Far too hard . My heart is broken for you all.

What a wonderful tribute to the most amazing pusscat. There again how could it not me coming from Forrest's wonderful person.

I particularly liked the snow pic.

all hugs
