6/1 amps rumpy 65 +.5 79 +1 90 +2 72 +3 51 + 4 64 +5 66 +6.5 92 PMPS 128 +2 105

I’m going to go ahead and shoot. I was told if it’s above 50 shoot.
I’ll test at +1

Please get a test at 30 min after shot time and at +1. I'm being overly cautious. Rumpy's numbers have been dropping since PMPS and we don't know how much momentum is left from the dropping numbers. I' rather you not test at +2 or +3 and be really surprised by low numbers and you have to shovel carbs into your kitty. I'd suggest doing exactly what you did on 5/30.

Good shooting!!

It does look like he's coming down from a bounce. I would give him a bit of MC to boost him up. If the vet appointment is at +2, then I would take my meter and a can of HC with a spoon as that's probably when the insulin will onset. I had to do that once. You'll be able to monitor all day and have plenty of test strips and syrup or HC right?

Well, I (Shelly) will be at work until +6 so tony is taking rumpy. I will let him know to do that.

The highest carb food I have is 9%
Other than that it’s dry food or honey.

Normally we can just do walk ins but today my vet is full. So we may have to go tomorrow.

Dry food takes longer to bring them up. If needed, I would use the 9% with a drop of honey. Like if he's in the 40s try the 9% alone and if he goes below that then try the 9% with a drop of two of honey. Your hubby may need to test every 20 to 30 minutes depending on his numbers. Hopefully, he will just surf along nice and flat green all day.

Don't over feed him. You may need him to be hungry enough to eat if his numbers go too low.

Thank yo

thank you!!!

His +.5 is 79

Should we wait and feed? He is purring and meowing. Or should we go ahead and feed a teaspoon of some of the 9% mixed in?

I'm guessing the 90 is at +1? I think you can do the next test in an hour. And if he wants a little more LC let him eat. If he feels himself going low, he will probably ask for food. If he seems frantic to eat, then test.

Oh I'm sorry, I put the 90 on the spreadsheet under +2, but thank you for the info!! He seems to be doing very well and I'll test in an hour.

Give him a couple of drops of honey on a couple of (2) teaspoons of the 9% and test again 30 minutes after he eats.

thank you, he just cleaned the plate of the little food I put down. Hopefully he comes up a litte.

Can Shelly stop at the store on the way home from work and pick up some cans of HC (over 20%)? It's good to keep some HC (like 5 or 6 cans) in a separate location with your other hypo toolbox for times like this.

He has gone up to 64, I asked Shelly to grab some food on her way home from work. Should I test in 30 minutes or wait until +5?

That's good he's gone up.
Sorry, I had some family issues I had to deal with..
Why don't you test now, if you can, and call it +4.75 or is it almost +5 now?

no worries to apologize, thank you for helping out throughout the whole thing.

I have one that is 13% carb
And another that is 16% carb

He’s so picky I don’t even know if he will eat this. Or if there’s a high carb one he will eat. Should i try this first?

He's surfing along just fine.
I was just saying to keep some HC in the house because I thought you said you only had 9% which would almost be considered MC. You would use HC if he is dropping fast or if his numbers were under 50. So, when you had the 51 and he could have dropped more, knowing you had some HC in the house would have been a tool to use to get him up above 50. He will be fine with a little LC for now. He is just surfing along fine for now. :D

Agh I see! Yes I completely forgot I had bought these random punches and had never checked the car percentage.

LC as in his normal food? It’s only 0-1%

LC is fine. He is surfing along. You could even try going without feeding him for an hour to see where his numbers go.

I usually call LC from 0% to about 10% and MC from about 11% to 17% and HC from 18% upward. That's just me. That's why I said the 9% was almost MC. I would always keep some HC in the house next to your syrup and other hypo toolbox stuff. I just to write the carb numbers on the top of the cans with a black marking pen.

Okay great! Thanks so much.
He’s sleeping right now. Should we test again?

Sorry, I was not online.
Since it looks like he's past his nadir this cycle, I would hold off on food until PMPS. If he's persistent, I would give him some freeze dried all meat treats which would be zero carb.
Good job shooting today.

We had a random huge storm roll through that knocked our power out! I’m hoping it comes back on soon because of the insulin!!

Rumpy was scared but he took the test well. And it was 128! Shot 3.5 and he ate immediately and finished it.
