? Switch to back Lantus from Prozinc?

I have my cat, Murphy, on Prozinc right now. As you can see from his chart, he is not responding to increases in dosage.
When he was first diagnosed about a year ago, he was on Lantus. After several months, he stopped responding to dose increases, so my vet put him on Prozinc (Novembeer 2018). He immediately responded.
Currently, he is in great spirits and seems to be feeling well. He's got neuropathy, but has been moving around well and is even jumping on the bed. He APPEARS to feel better than he has in months.
I have noticed that he's going to the water bowl a bit more, and there is more urine in the litter box. So, I know he's not as well as he appears.
I would love any advice from you guys about what to do about his meds. When I increase his dose, it does not seem to make much difference. When I bumped him up to 3 units twice a day, it just resulted in him having issues with irritable bowels. I put him on an antibiotic, which cleared it up, and I have him on a probiotic now.
I just don't want to keep increasing the dose, which makes him seem to feel worse, when it does not show results with better BG numbers.
I still have some Lantus in the refrigerator that does not expire until 2020. I am wondering if I should try switching him back to that? Can cats "grow immune" to a certain medication? The only sense I can make of his numbers is that it could be the Prozinc is not working anymore.
I'll ask my vet, too, before making any changes. But, I have gotten better(?) advice from folks on here than I have from them in some instances.

Help! :banghead:
Thanks!:)

This sounds like my story!! I did Lantus to Prozinc and back to Lantus. We eventually had him tested for high-dose conditions, he has Acromegaly so that changed things. Lots to learn but there are experts here to help. Put a? On the prefix of your post so someone with more experience than me will see it.
I went back and forth with the vet countless times, same symptoms as you're describing and yes you seem to get better understanding of situations on the forum than you do at the vet.

Cat's need what they need…..you can't get too wrapped up in the dose

How long has the Lantus been open? If it's been more than 3 months or so, I'd suggest getting fresh before trying it again.

Also, it's really important to get tests on the PM cycle....most cats go lower at night and without getting at least 1 test in "before bed", there may be more going on than you know

And...just like that we hit on 165 and 107 last night.
Will stay the course for now, but may reach out again.
Thank you for the advice...
