Hi there,

My handsome 12-year-old, Miles, was diagnosed in February and it's been a bit of a confusing journey for me. My vet isn't super forthcoming with information and I get confused by all that's available online. I'd briefly joined a Facebook group not long ago, but found the moderator to be a bit aggressive, so I left.

I'm hoping to find a community of nice folks who can provide answers and support.

You are in the right place for support and knowledge to help you get your boy in better shape.

There is a lot of info here and it can be overwhelming, take a little time to look around, the yellow stickies at the top of each board are helpful.

Everyone here loves their kitties and try their best to help other kitties and parents too.

You can post general health questions in the main Health forum and there are insulin specific forums depending on which insulin you use.

One thing that would also help is if you can set up a signature with particulars like your kitty’s weight, diagnosis date, type of food, other health conditions, type and dose of insulin, etc. this will help other members to answer your questions and not have to repeatedly ask about the basics of your cat.

Setting up your signature (light grey text under a post). Here's how:
click on your name in the upper right corner of this page
click on "signature" in the menu that drops down
type the following in the box that opens: kitty's name/age/date of diabetes diagnosis/insulin you're using and dosage amount /glucose meter you're using/what (s)he eats/any other meds or health issues (s)he has. You can add your name, and a geographic location (sometimes the time zone matters) Be sure to SAVE when you are finished.
