I just learned how to test my cats blood sugar. It's 529 right now just before his evening meal.

I can't get ahold of my vet until tomorrow.

His usual dose is 1.5 units of prozinc. He had that this morning.

Does anyone have any suggestions what I should do tonight?

For me (I'm diabetic), I'd give myself some insulin and check my sugar every hour. I have no idea of that's what I'm supposed to do for him, or how much insulin to give, or if he should even have dinner!

We've been trying to get him to eat though, so he needs his dinner.

congratulations on getting your first reading!
Ok so give him his 1.5 units. Try to get a mid cycle (or before bed) reading to see if it's dropping. We can't suggest raising the dose without more data. It could be so high because it's not enough insulin, or it could be a bounce from going too low from too much insulin. No way to know until you get more data.

Here's a link to the spreadsheet we use like the ones you see in our signatures. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

I'll set up a spreadsheet, I just saw how to do that. And a signature.

Should I have him eat his dinner, even though his sugar is so high? He's not eating much right now because of a lot of things, including unregulated sugar. He needs the calories, but I know without the insulin to use the calories it doesn't do much.

Or should I just wait a few hours and see what his numbers are before feeding him?

Absolutely yes let him eat. What did are you feeding? (Add that to the signature as well)

Right now anything he will eat. Cat food, Authority canned food, although only because it's what he's used to. We will be changing his diet if we can get him to start eating well on his own.

Most of his food has actually been meat baby food because he will actually eat it off the spoon.

And when I say he's eating cat food, he's primarily licking it. He may eat a half teaspoon total.

if he's only licking it, will he lick it all up if you add water and turn it into soupy lumpy gravy? definitely do feed him, make sure he's getting plenty of water (pate soup will help LOL)
