Hi everyone,

Hope you and your kitties are all doing well! I miss being able to keep up with you all, although I don't often comment; I think of you frequently :)

Willow has been doing really well the last few days. Her greens (ss) are coming back and starting to hold longer :) I started her on Pepcid AC, 1/4 tab once daily in the evening, as well as increasing her gabapentin from 1/2 tab to 3/4 tab twice daily (25 mg tab). She's still on cerenia in the morning, and baytril at night. This is the 5th day since her last mirtazapine dose, and she is still eating very well for the most part (she's still getting small portions, and her appetite wears off at times, but we're not having to chase her around the room with her bowl coaxing her). Most importantly, her attitude is good...she seems really pretty comfy, not hiding, and yesterday even looked for her catnip toy a few times to lick and lie on! Also got her vitamin B injectable, so will start her on that, maybe today. The only odd thing is she still occasionally pees over the LB, I don't know if it's a discomfort (not wanting to squat) or not?

Will most likely be heading back to Nova Scotia in a week (next Monday), so hopefully she stabilizes more before that and doesn't take the move too hard...at least we're going somewhere familiar to her. Will be bringing her to her home vet shortly after arrival.

I'll pop in again before we leave! With love, Nikki

Nikki!

I'm so jealous that you're heading back to NS! I am originally from New Glasgow and can't wait until the summer when I am heading home for a couple weeks to visit :D

It's great to see that Willow is more herself, you must be relieved, she certainly is holding the greens! I'm hoping to see Mowgli get back into some greens this week! I will cheer him on to channel his inner Willow!

Have an awesome trip! Keep it up Willow!

Guess you're back home! Hope Willow liked the trip... ! :) Give some news when you have a chance!
LOL not quite...first day, we got 3 1/2 hours driving in, very late start. She did well and settled in to the hotel well, is eating great but is very shut down...hopefully just tired. 12 more hours ahead over 2 more days, ugh. Was late with her shot tonight so will also have to figure that out along with the time change.
Thanks for htinking of us, I'll update more when I'm home :) Hope TiMousse is doing well! Such a cutie, reminds me of my big boy Chuckie.

I didn't realize you were leaving from Ontario.. plus the time change and I travel very often to Maritimes...
Willow is still doing great with his numbers and mamma doesn't stop testing ... !! Have a nice safe trip back home Nikki !!

Thank you...Mamma is still too paranoid to stop testing lol!!!
Willow did *great* today, 8 hours of driving! She slept a lot (probably exhaustion, plus I increased her gaba a bit to hopefully help with any pain/stiffness and maybe sedate a bit). She settled in to this hotel very well...explored and went back to her tent, and is eating great! Only 4 hours tomorrow and she's back to familiar territory, and we'll settle there for the summer.
Does TiMousse travel with you? With love, Nikki

Good Mamma! We know how kitties are: it's that ONE day you won't test that she'll bring you one of those surprises!!! What a wonderful little girl travelling so well!

Funny you ask that, I was just gonna start a thread in the Off-Topic on Summer vacations with a diabetes cat!
Actually he's good in the car, for long run I don't know but when we took him to the new vet for dental, he didn't say a word (30 min from home)! My 2 other civies scream and cry all the way to their vet (5 min from home)!
We didn't go anywhere the last 2 years because one of our kitty was dx CKD; sadly he left last May and after that, it was Ti-Mousse dx diabetes!
I'm hoping so much to get away this summer even for just a week; it would give us a boost for the whole year:) Right now, I'm trying to find the best solution : at the vet, he'll feel abandonned, he doesn't deserve that stress; I don't have anybody to come home at least twice a day and that means no testing all day.... I'm always worried now when I leave him!! so maybe my last option is taking him with us....!!! I don't know how I would do that, no experience in travelling with a kitty and specially with a diabetes one !! I'm in the dark but need the best solution for my Ti-Minou and us!!

I'm sure Willow will be so happy to get back to his nice summer place! Be safe!

Thank you :)
I can share *my* advice, such as it is...I really do think much depends on the temperament of your cat (and luckily, Ti-Mousse may be reasonable traveller judging by the lack of yowling on short trips), and there are some things that can possibly make the trip easier for everyone :)
With love, Nikki

So nice, thanks Nikki! For sure I would really appreciate your advice, you have so much experience with that! Whenever you have a chance but there's no rush, we're only starting to think of the possibility of going away during summer!! :bighug:
