Good morning Debra! Yoyo is looking really good on this dose. Happy to see the surf last night! I hope he can get off the beach and back to surfing today! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Nice start for Yoyo. I hope you get a blue/green surf today.

I hope so.....last night I kept feeding Yoyo throughout the cycle so that he didn't go too low. Is this the right thing to do, or should I have stopped feeding him after the normal +4 time? The food seems to have kept him surfing safely and that was my goal. But did I do something wrong?

This can be be a double-edged sword. When do you normally feed him throughout the cycle? Lou's a grazer, so we feed him 1/2 can meals at preshot and at +3. Then we give him 1/4 can snacks at +6 and +9. Other kitties get most of their meals/carbs during the first half of the cycle (especially if their BGs like to dive). There isn't a wrong answer here because ECID, especially considering our extra sweet kitties seem to do better with multiple meals/snacks during a cycle. It's up to you really how big/small those feedings are.

So inherently, feeding through a surf is not at all bad. On one hand, you might want to only feed during regular times so that you can see where the dose is actually taking him. On the other hand, it's not a bad idea to offer a snack here or there to ensure he stays safe (because at the end of the day, keeping them safe is the most important thing). The only possible fear of feeding more through a surf is if he goes too low and is too full to eat when he really needs to. It can be a tough balancing act, this FD dance. Eventually you'll learn how Yoyo responds in certain situations so you'll feel comfortable about what to do. :bighug:

There's no wrong way to do it. You have to find what works for Yoyo. Like Amanda said you do need to be careful to not feed too much and he gets full and won't eat later if you need him to. You also need to be careful feeding too much after nadir and when he starts coming up or that could make his numbers go up more than usual. He had a nice surf last night, so it looks like it worked for him. Sometimes you do need to feed more than the normal schedule to keep them surfing safely.

I normally feed Yo 1 can of fancy feast between PS and +1, then he gets 3t @ +2,+3 and +4. So last night I added more food @ +6 and later on. I skipped +5 purposely to see where he would go, and he did go down lower. That's why I fed at +6 and so on. I guess it is a learning curve and I'm sure it will differ from time to time as our kitties love to keep us guessing:):)
