Is Honey an outside cat? FIV is transmitted from the mother cat or from a deep bite wound from another cat.
Here's an interesting article (Cornell University)

My kitty Alice was a Feral kitten She developed Stomatitis by the time she was 2 yrs old. Not much you can do for it (some vets believe pulling all the teeth out & large doses of antibiotics help. From what I read over the years Even after removing all the poor kitties teeth the virus can come back! )
I chose not to do that to her. She's the same age as Ravan & Peggy Sue will be 17 in June. Her teeth were absorbed years ago & she does just find eating without any teeth even her raw meat diet. I read articles that they are finding that Zyrtec can put some cats into remission so she gets 1/2 tab a day & her mouth looks better.
It might be a good idea to do some research about FIV. Vets are often too busy to find new info & just keep doing what they've been doing for many years. Here's one I found tps://
