My cat just startedPZI last night. I tried giving her Serrania prescribed by the vet and I didn’t realize she going to foam at the mouth so I don’t know that she got The dose so I did not give her the pill again. She has not eaten since beforeI took her to the vet yesterday. I gave her a dose of PCI in the afternoon there was some slight improvement two hours later please see chart. This morning the Alpha tracked glucose monitor only gave me a reading of “hi “which means her blood sugar is still high. It may sound silly but I don’t know if I should give her the insulin this morning even though she hasn’t eaten. When she was at the vet yesterday she got subcutaneous fluids and Serrania shot. Diabetes is very uncontrolled we just switched over from t I gave her a dose of PZI in the afternoon there was some slight improvement two hours later please see chart. I think you're referring to Cerenia and with those medications and symptoms it's sounding like she has pancreatitis, did the Vet check for that yesterday? Also, with her numbers being high for a while, has anyone tested for ketones? The recipe for DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) is not eating, not enough insulin, and an infection of some sorts.

How much cerenia is she being given? It shouldn't be an entire pill, not that they're very big to begin with. It will really help manage her nausea so she might eat something so you can give her insulin. What is your method for pilling her?
Are there any other health issues with Sapphire?
Also, what foods are you feeding her and what times?

If you can get her to eat, I think you'll have to start increasing her dose. Ideally by 0.25U increments, which is easier with syringes that have half unit markings. Usually, we'll recommend every 6 cycles (12 hours=1 cycle) to increase the dose. Hang in there though, we'll try to help as best we can!

Sorry for the questions .
Take as many patience pants as you need from here :bighug::bighug::bighug:. This is marathon, not a sprint. Insulin is a hormone so it doesn't work immediately like medicine.

I would give 1 unit provided you can test at 3 hours or so after shot.
Can you syringe feed Sapphire if she goes to low or does not eat by herself this evening? She needs food.

SIRI mispelled Cerenia. I was an emotinal mess.

She wanted to run a lab panel that was over $200 which I declined due to expense. I was already at $300. Not to mention I am already spread quite thin.

It was a shot not sure of dosage.

I just put it in her mouth. I did not know it was a bitter pill until after :( I got pill pockets from the vet this AM. she gave me an rx for an appetite stimulant which has not worked. i have been trying to feed her tiny bits of canned food between her cheek and gum. She is at work with me.

Up until January she only went to vet to annual shots. She is 2 and half

Also, what foods are you feeding her and what times?

She is on FF classic, Iam grain free, gerber baby food per vet.

I work with an IM specialist at my job and she suggest there must be something more beside the diabetes. She is leaning toward acromegaly which is quite rare. She will do an Ultrasound to see if anything else stands out. I am also looking at end of life options should she not bounce back here in the next few weeks. I love her so much and she has brought so my joy and pride for her to me. Its not fair to let her suffer but I also want to give her a fair chance at a GOOD life. But is she doesn't its not fair to her. I am quite heartbroken but guardedly optimistic. Thank you for replying

Today an internal specialist (I work with her so it didn't cost me anything) did an ultrasound and said her liver was enlarged, Slight dilation of kidneys and heart did looked good. She suggested the vet run a liver panel to see if there is a trend and even suggested a liver biopsy for a more definitive diagnosis and a plan. But she did say it may help... "may". I just had another meltdown in the bathroom here at work. I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that my Safie should not go thru all this. I need a miracle to make those tests happen... we don't have biopsy equipment in out office since we are not a treating facility we only do consults.
