Well, good things must come to an end so I suspect this may be the beginning of Buddy's slow creep back up the BG ladder. I will go one more day to see what happens but, assuming, he is still in this number range tomorrow I'm curious what your thoughts are on his dose. I've looked at a bunch of SS from kitties that were OTJ and had to go back on but I see different trends. I'm thinking .1 or .25 but would love some other feedback.

Probably going to depend on what his numbers are. Can you get a test and post number about an hour before your want to shoot this morning?

Start a new post or update title with"?" and "need dosing advise" to get more eyes also.

It looks like you got a +11 and he’s the same. With having to go to work today and not be able to monitor, I wouldn’t do anymore than .1 to start. Or I ‘d probably wait till tonight to restart so I could monitor.

Hi Kelly,
If this was me I would want to get a curve before restarting insulin? Is that possible at the mo? (I know your work is crazy at the moment) He may be lower during the day? What is your feeding schedule like? I found when George was OTG if he missed a snack and didn't eat for more than 3 hours he was often high at ambg/pmbg, so just wondering???

As Bobbie has already said I would not want to shoot and walk out the door, you might find he has a strong response to even 0.1u.

Good point with doing a curve to see if he is going lower during the cycle.

There is no way for me to start a curve until Saturday. Historically, he has always dropped low at night but very rarely during the day. I may go ahead and do .1 tonight and see what happens. I sure hate to see his numbers start to climb back.

Possibly related, I noticed yesterday and today that is urine is really dark. I tested for ketones and he is completely negative and I can't imagine he's dehydrated because he still drinks a lot? Other kidney issues? I swear...one step forward, one step back.

Do you think he could have blood in his urine? Perhaps an infection? That might raise his numbers???

You can test for blood in his urine with a test strip.
The ketostix I used also checked for blood.
Just a thought.

If you cannot do a curve, can you get a PMPS plus a +3 for a couple nights? That’ll help us figure out how much his pancreas is working.

I probably misstated; his urine is extremely orange more than dark which is making me more concerned about liver issues. He also did not want to eat all of his food tonight either. I will contact the vet tomorrow. :(

Just seeing this so I missed the +3; I will grab a +5 and get a +3 tomorrow.
