Ti-Mousse - BG 31 but going up now

Ti-Mousse (GA) Pepe (GA)

Member Since 2018
+8.5 = BG 31
Gave 3 kibbles + 1 tbs 20% carb

15 min. later = BG 59
Gave 1 tbs 20% carb

Will test again in 30 minutes;
if he's going up, do I keep feeding High Carb or go back to low carb?

Hope I'm doing this OK!
I'll be back, computer is upstairs and I'm testing downstairs...

Good catch and good job getting him up.

I would feed him LC and test 30 mins later. It takes two hours for HC to wear off but the dry will take longer. Unless he shoots up, you’ll need to test to be sure he doesn’t come right back down when the HC wears off.

Keep in mind that even if he shoots up into the high 100s or low 200s, he might come back down a little later in the cycle so don’t completely stop testing even if he comes up a lot.

He’s already late in the cycle so you don’t want to use anything but LC unless he drops into the 30s again. If he drops in the 40s, feed LC and retest in 30.

Is he ok? Any symptoms? You can take the 911 down and if he is not having symptoms, please take down “hypo” otherwise everyone will think he’s having a symptomatic hypo. If he is showing signs of a hypo, I’d get him to the ER.

Thank you for being there, I was so nervous.

how long for dry to wear off:

Should I give him LC 1 tbs at a time, test every 30 mins until HC and dry wear off (2 hours or more);
OR
can I give him his regular LC full supper and test every 30 mins until HC and dry wear off (2 hours or more);

Sorry, I didn't read your message till the end...
No he doesn't have any signs;
911 is off and I changed the title;

When can I presume he's safe and stop testing ?

Thanks again!

Sorry I forgot another question...
Normally I would shoot in 2 hours, but dry and maybe HC will false my PS number; should I skip shot tonight and let him get back to safer land?

If you only gave him 3 kibbles of dry and that’s it, it should only take a few hours and it would likely get out of his system a little slower than HC food or syrup. The HC food/syrup effect can end quickly.

No...you only needed to give the LC food once and then retest in 30 to see where he was. If he was still hovering lower, then a little more LC. A tbsp is a lot and you don’t want him so full that he won’t eat tonight.

When can I presume he's safe and stop testing ?
His SS is not updated and so my answer is not as good as it could be. If he rockets up into the mid one hundred range, you can give him an hour. If he’s up into yellow or pink, you should test about the time the HC is due to wear off.

See where he is. If he’s sky high, you’ll want to shoot as long as you can test tonight. I know you would like to have an answer right now but see where he is. I am not likely to be around then so test a little before shot time and post for help.

Good catch Lyane! Glad he came up for you! I just read your SS and about your daughter's house flooding, oh my! So glad you got home today when you did.

Congrats on the reduction down to 4.75!

It looks like numbers are coming up. I suspect you'll be fine to shoot at PMPS but post if you're not sure what to do. Remember, Ti-Mousse gets a dose reduction.

I'm so sorry about your daughter's house. Clearly, your kitty didn't like your giving your attention to your daughter and figured you needed to be home with him.

Thanks to my bronchitis; I was planning to stay longer but I was so tired after those 2 days, I left earlier! I know she'll need help again this week, but just the thought of it makes me worried :woot: I'm testing tonight to make sure he's OK after the HC wears off but I don't know if I'll shoot.
Good thing you reminded me, I didn't realize he earned a reduction!!

He had his last HC and 3 kibbles: 3 hours ago; hopefully, this is wearing off by now!
He also had last LC 2 hours ago;
Hopefully, it's safe to shoot; I think I will!
I had forgotten about the reduction, thanks Sienne for reminding me!
I like to be home with my ti-minou and he knows it!:)

Yes, he sure did earn a reduction. With all the excitement, I thought it was worth reiterating.

Glad you shot tonight, he is likely to bounce a bit from the lower number today but get a test in before you call it a night to make sure he doesn't decide to come back down.
I delayed shooting 30 min to make sure numbers were still in Blue and increasing slowly, I wasn't too sure but decided to shoot; glad you approve:) I will test him tonight and probably set an alarm in the middle of the night. I was so afraid for him today !!

BTW it's funny you say that, he got his first GREEN when I was away for the first whole day after he was DX; he was in RED and PINK so no worried and when I came back at night he had a GREEN, I almost died! I'll be afraid to leave now.... and summer vacations are coming, I guess he wants to be part of the trip !! :joyful:

Darn!!! I meant to tell you to be sure and reduce the dose so I’m glad Sienne did. I’m glad he’s doing better. Good idea to test a bit more tonight since you shot blue.

Nice save yesterday Lyane!!! It must have been really scary finding Ti-Mousse in lime green, thank goodness you were tired and went home. :nailbiting: How are things with your daughter's house?

He was OK in the morning and I had left plenty of food, so I was not expecting that at all! I was never afraid to leave him before, but now I'll always be worried!
Water is still rising, they have 3 pumps working full time; apparently it should start coming down by Thursday. Hope your sisters in the West Island are OK!

It's hard when you get a lowish AMPS and you need to go out. I try to do a +2 to make sure Leo's numbers are not diving but sometimes it's just impossible. It's like my whole schedule revolves around Leo's numbers and other people don't understand when you can't make a 100% commitment because you might have to stay home and test. :rolleyes:

You're poor daughter, I hope the water stops rising and the pumps to their job. I also hope my weather app is wrong, they're calling for another 10mm of rain on Wednesday. :banghead:

Exactly what it is, I live the same thing! Up to yesterday, even DH wasn't realizing how serious this is! :) I'll remember the +2 when I have to leave!
and hope you're wrong for the 10mm...!!

I wouldn't count on the +2 test being set in stone. All cats are different, every day is different and I always wonder what if his pancreas decides to start working at +3 after i'm gone ??? For me the +2 just gives me some extra courage to leave the house or grab a few hours of non interrupted sleep, lol. If Leo's +2 is lower, I try to do a +4 just to make sure. Leo is not typically a diver though, if I had a bouncy cat, I would probably never leave. lol
