Jerry's numbers this morning indicate that I did indeed have a fur shot at PM yesterday. Boy when I mess up I do it big time. He was just getting back on track after a skipped dose and I go and do this. I suppose it happens. I wasn't sure, his fur didn't seem wet but there was a definite smell that I've not had before.

Oh well, nothing I can do about it now. Will just have to be more careful in future.

On another topic, I tried him with some pumpkin this morning just to see if he would eat it straight up, he didn't go for it but his civvie brother Ben devoured it, licking the bowl clean and was looking for more ha ha.

An alternative to pumpkin is squash baby food. Perhaps that will have greater appeal for Jerry. (It's also a much smaller amount to deal with. You can portion and freeze the pumpkin, BTW, so it doesn't go bad in the refrigerator.)

It does sound like you encountered the "bandaid" smell indicative of a fur shot. Could you add to the comment on your SS that the fur shot was at PMPS? You might also want to put a question mark in the U-column for last night. When you have the dose there, most of us would assume that it wasn't a fur shot. The "?" will likely cause folks to look at your comments.

i'll change the spreadsheet so its correct. By the looks of his ss this morning it doesn't look like he got any insulin. A complete miss. It just felt funny you know...

Have you read the Yellow sticky note by Dr. Lisa Pierson, about why not to feed dry food?

If you sometimes have a problem with a fur shot ,remember you can give the shot on different parts of his body. My Ravan is Black I give the shot in his flank area. I part the fur so I can clearly see his white skin & shoot at an angle. I've never given a fur shot since I started giving it in his side.

It's the first time i've done it. It just didn't feel right when I did it and there was a distinct smell. I don't usually have an issue and I've been extra careful since getting new syringes that have a shorter needle than I was use to. I've read the sticky about dry food which is why I'm trying to introduce pumpkin and will start with some miralax in his food as well. It will be a difficult transition for him as, of the two, he's always like dry better than wet. I've already cut back to the bare minimum without causing BM issues and will continue to try ease it away from him. We'll see how far he'll let me get.

Sorry about the fur shot, but Jerry will get back on track. It happens. I once did three in a row. Furball won't eat plain pumpkin. I have to mix it in her food.

Yep, i mixed it in with his food. Didn't put too much in but will gradually add a bit at a time. He did eat it then.
I can't believe I had a fur shot, first time for me and of course it had to be just as we were getting back on track from the skip. Ah well, live and learn. He's high again today as a result but it will get better and I'll be much more vigilant going forward.:)
