4/27 Yoyo AMPS 273,+2 203,+4 184,+7 182,+8 185,+11 214, PMPS 183,+1 234,+2 194,+4 155,+5 133,

I agree...great job yesterday.

Looks like he’s clearing the bounce!!! He’s likely to keep dropping into PMPS so you might see more green numbers today. Keep them safe numbers, Yo!

Yoyo's sheet sure looks different from when I was last on the board back in February, lots more greens and blues. I love it!

It does look like he's clearing that bounce so I hope he surfs safely for you.

WELCOME BACK!!! Missed you bunches....hope to see you back on the site with Bailey surfing safely. I haven't checked Bailey's SS, is she still on insulin or is she OTJ? Either way, I hope she is doing fine. Can't wait to catch up....see ya soon!

P.S.....forgot to mention....Yoyo's SS is now based on a human meter. That is why you are seeing more blues and greens. His dosage has been increased, I am now using a caliper, and I am using different syringes with no hubs. Lots of changes!!
I never understood when everyone would mention that I should be using a caliper. I have taken baby steps with Yoyo on this site, but I eventually get there and I am ever so happy to have finally opened up to using CALIPERS. I never realized how off the lines are on the syringes. Oh my goodness, besides Yoyo was getting extra insulin from using syringes with hubs, he was also getting extra insulin from bad lines on the syringes. But like I said, I eventually learn things the hard way, but Yo and I are improving our skills:joyful:

I fed Yoyo boiled chicken after his +7 reading. I then checked him at +8 and he was about the same reading. But his +11 was increased. What I'm trying to ask is do you think that the chicken somehow altered his readings? I know there are no carbs in chicken, but can it still elevate his blood glucose? I normally don't feed him in the afternoon, but he asked so nicely, how could I refuse him anything;)....And I'm soooo happy when he wants to eat, because for awhile there he was getting so skinny. The thyroid medicine that I increased has his thyroid now under better control. I know, I don't like that pill either. Just feel that he is too old for another change in his life going for that treatment. Don't know if he or I could handle that separation for days.

Yes, it can. There have been some cats on here that the CG had to use special techniques because even boiled or freeze dried chicken gave them a BG bump.

I’d look back and see each time you fed it to him if you got a similar response. If you didn’t, then there’s a good chance it didn’t affect it today but when I say “good chance”, I don’t mean “100%” because things can change.

For example, as Gracie’s dose got lower, it took less carbs to affect her BG. That was her but ECID. While generally, what I could use for carbs on her remained the same, there were a few times when her carb response changed.

How they respond to carbs can also be influenced by absorption and duration for that shot. If absorption was a little lower and duration was a little lower, then any carbs at all towards the end of the cycle could affect the BG.

But wouldn't it have affected him from the +7 to the +8 reading? Wouldn't any bump from the chicken be long gone 4 hours later at his +11 reading? I'm thinking the +11 reading had to do with duration?

I wish this was all black and white without gray areas like absorption, duration and carbs:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I have been giving Yoyo boiled chicken just about the same time at 3:00am....he cries and wants food. I also found out it helps stopping him from vomiting before he gets fed at his AMPS feeding. I thought the chicken wasn't going to affect his BG....now I don't know if I am doing right by him....oh, something else to fret about:arghh:

I honestly wouldn’t worry about it.

Two things...there isn’t much difference between the +8 and +11. And second, I just wanted to let you know that it’s not possible to know what is at play when the numbers are so close. If he’d gone from 185 @+8 to 320 @ +11, you might have a little more of a smoking gun. But remember numbers start up towards the end of the cycle anyway.

If it were me, I’d continue with his LC chicken snack. I did the exact same thing with Gracie for the same reasons and didn’t worry about duration and you shouldn’t either because he needs what he needs. And, he was actually fairly flat.

Does that make sense?

Lots of changes!!
Indeed! You have been busy since I was last here!

It's probably easier to use the human meter, at least on the board, so that we are all talking the same language, so to speak. All of these changes have been great for Yoyo. I am so glad that he is doing so well!

As for the boiled chicken, I only gave it to Bailey a few times, but it seemed to raise her BG so I stopped. Looks like it's possible that Yoyo has the same issue. I considered trying the freeze-dried chicken treats, but I haven't tried them yet.

Good morning,
I tried giving Yoyo the freeze-dried chicken. He would not eat it period!!! I kept putting it in his mouth and he kept spitting it out at me. I tried the chicken and I think it was the shrimp. NOPE, would not touch it. So then I boiled chicken. The trick here is that I put the chicken through the food processor and the chicken gets real fine. He would not touch the chicken when I cut it up for him, but when I used the food processor he ate it. Go figure, but it works for him!

Good morning,
Yes it makes sense.....I get so stuck on the numbers that I don't see that it is really a flat curve.
Yoyo thanks you:bighug: because he was getting scared that I may stop feeding him in the early hours of the morning.
Have a nice day!!!
