Let's wait and see! Positive vibes for Peggy Sue and RavanRavan is doing better. Lower BG.
Peggy Sue is not doing so good. She's dripping blood. (I don't think that's normal with a UTI ?) We sat outside for a while & she was Happy laying in the sun. She did eat a little canned food. And she used the litter box Pooped & Peed.
I managed to get a clean sample to bring to the vet. I also ordered D-Mannose. I hope there is some way to help her.Instead of getting easier as I get older it's more difficult to let them go.
I'm bringing her to the vet at 2:30 & then Ravan at 4:30. I really dread going to the vet. I get more stressed than the cats.

Is there signs of high blood pressure in ckd cats as bella was just diagnosedGood news, so happy for you ! For Ravan high blood pressure is common with CKD, it'll be controlled with medication! For little Peggy Sue, a lot better than what you were expecting... You should post a picture of her, we talk about her but we don't know her, at least I don't! Try to rest tonight and enjoy every moment where she wakes you up by laying on top of you & purring !!

It's when one of my kitty was diagnosed CKD that vet told me he also had high blood pressure after some additional tests, but not all ckd cats will suffer from that, maybe only half of them. I don't think there are any signs, but appropriate diet helps alot specially that Bella is in an early stage! Don't worry, your vet would probably have told you !Is there signs of high blood pressure in ckd cats as bella was just diagnosed

Numbers look great!Ravan is doing better. Lower BG.
Yes, it can be. It can be in humans as well.i would do both the AB and D-Mannose. I wouldn't wait to start the AB. UTI's are painful. She's dripping blood. (I don't think that's normal with a UTI ?)

Agree on not waiting on ABNumbers look great!

Prayers for you all![]()
That's exactly how much ravan is getting. I sure hope he comes down to normal! He got 0.625mg (1/4 of 2.5mg tab) Amlodipine 1x/day.
.i would do both the AB and D-Mannose
@Bellasmomappropriate diet helps alot
We are gonna work on the raw as soon as I get the foodfurlife@Bellasmom
Ravan gained some weight (8oz) Vet told me with Kidney disease & Diabetes it's a real good idea not to let them be overweight. Ravan weighs about 14lbs all his life,if you look down at him you can see his waist. Vet said it was a good weight for him. Now he needs to lose the 8 extra ounces.
Less food & more exercise. He gained from the FF with gravy when his BG drops. I hate that stuff. I don't think is very healthy. I'm glad he's now eating his raw diet again.

Yes. Some. But Gizmo was a holy terror at the vet. Always.Couldn't that elevate his BP? Can I ask how high was Gizmo's
1st bp ~300 (started Amlodipine)
IMO that isn't long enough to tell how well he is reacting to the dose. Seems that a member (maybe @Marje and Gracie) said it takes some time. It could have been the vet. I honestly don't remember. Might be worth posting a "?" And ask in subject line or on the main forum.Vet wants me to bring him in in 5 days
Definetely right; it takes some time to see how the body will react to the drug, in my case also Amlodipine. I can't remember how long between visits to monitor but for sure longer than 5 days! Will see what others experienced!IMO that isn't long enough to tell how well he is reacting to the dose. Seems that a member (maybe @Marje and Gracie) said it takes some time. Thank you. Even after the 2nd test vet didn't want to increase but give it more time.Definetely right; it takes some time to see how the body will react to the drug, in my case also Amlodipine. I’m just trying to get the sample that that I ordered on the 1st still haven’t got it!Good luck with the Food for life. A lot of people said their cat loves it. My 3 loved it the first time Second time they all vomited 15 mins later. Now they won't go near it.![]()
I think it took about 2 weeks for me to get the sample. I wonder why so long?still haven’t got it!
Don’t knowI think it took about 2 weeks for me to get the sample. I wonder why so long?
I would agree that, with diabetes, extra weight isn't good although 8 ounces is nothing, as long as he doesn't keep on gaining. But with CKD....it's important to try to keep weight on the kitty as they do tend to lose weight and muscle mass.@Bellasmom

I can’t remember how long it took before my vet rechecked Gus’s BP after we started on amlodipine. I believe it was 10-14 days and current literature indicates 7-14 days to see a difference.IMO that isn't long enough to tell how well he is reacting to the dose.
