If bg too low in AMPS and rises later, should I give shot?

Simba had too low a BG 75 reading for a shot. now it is 346 +3 later. Should I give shot now or wait until his normal time? With missing I know it will be elevated very high later when I normally give him his shot which I think is best at the moment.

First of all, the 1.75 unit dose is WAY too high for Simba. Anytime you get a number under 90, reduce the dose immediately. That 26 a couple weeks ago was in real hypo range. I am glad he is still alive. How about trying a 1.25 unit dose next?

As for shooting now, you could, but you would have to give the PM shot 12 hours from now, maybe as early as 11.5 hours from now. Can you delay that much? Here is a post on Getting Back on Schedule. Being three plus hours late, might be best to wait until tonight.

I refrained from giving him a shot and waited until the PMPS which was 588. I shot him at 1.5 and will see how that goes with adding in a curve this week. Thanks.

If you see any numbers below 90, even before the curve, please reduce again to 1.25 units. We want to keep Simba safe. It looks like there may be some pancreatic healing going on, which is a good thing, but means being cautious so he doesn’t get overdosed.

Got it. Thanks!
