Good morning!
AMPS 157 shooting 2.25u
Boomer ate all of his overnight food except for about a tsp. I think he slept with me most of the night.
Yesterday I had a great day; was out birding for much of it! No coyotes at the first spot. My second stop, Saunders Pond, wasn't very active but just as I was about to leave an Eastern Bluebird landed nearby and allowed me several shots. Bluebirds make me happy as I don't see them very often. My third stop in the morning resulted in nothing and by then I had decided the birds didn't like the cold wind. I decided to make one more stop to see the owls (the ones at the cemetery).
When I got there, Mama Owl wasn't in the nest! I could see one baby in the nest (there are 2). I started looking for the adults (hoping for a decent shot of course), I was turned away from the nest and there was some loud Canada Goose squawking; I turned back quickly and can only assume that one of the geese had decided to go too close to the nest because in those few seconds Mama Owl had returned and was sitting in the tree. I had time for 1 shot before she flew (I did get a shot of her leaving the tree as well). Photo attached. I waited around for a bit after this, hoping for some more action, and sure enough the Canada Goose decided to fly to the hole. Mama Owl came flying back in but this time went right into the nest hole and stayed there.
